It's the most dangerous religious belief system in the world.

All religious belief (Belief based on nothing but "faith", which is another word for nothing) is dangerous. The Qur'an is particularly nasty and violent (The Bible is too, big surprise!), so anyone who takes it literally is likely to be nasty and violent as well. Western culture has taken a more reasonable approach to living and has accepted most science, but much of the Islamic world has not and is, as a result, even more susceptible to a literal interpretation of their local holy bullshit (That comes from the Qur'an) which leads to these dangerous beliefs.

And yeah, I've read the Qur'an, so I don't care to hear some apologetic response about how peaceful it is.

bdmazur: what do you mean Jews weren't waiting for a savior? Please explain this to me bc it says so in Isaiah. Please help my ignorance if I'm reading an incorrect translations of scripture. I thought they were still waiting. I try to look at scripture in it's original language bc I really hate being misinformed and ignorant.
Back it up with proof please. The thing that is so difficult about reading text from so long ago is trying to understand it without the use of current words that I understand.
I know that muslms wait for prophets when the world needs them. Is that how jews are?

My doll told me that it "is the light," so I guess that's what I think of it.

^^A messiah and a savior are not necessarily the same thing.

G-d gave humans the ability to choose, and they chose to make a mess of things. War, pollution, etc. are not G-d's fault, they are mankind's fault. It is not G-ds responsibility to fix it, but it is ours. Therefor the thought that a massiah can come down and "save us" from our own mistakes is just a lazy excuse not to go out and do something about it.

There are two parts to the Messiah: the masculine (Moshiach), and the feminine (Shechinah). Shechina is the physical world in which we live, while Moshiach (where the word Messiah comes from) is, to put it in modern terms, the metaphysical/existentialist world, which is not "heaven" as Christians describe it but that's the best comparison I can make. The messianic age begins with the marriage of Moshiach and Shechinah (if you really want to personify them, the best thing to cal them would be Father Time & Mother Nature).

Essentially the two started as one, and that realm was Eden. But the two were seperated, and we were only allowed to physically experience Shechinah. The two cannot come back together because Shechinah is broken and impure, and that is humanity's fault. When humanity rights itself and the world, the two can rejoin and we can once again physically live in a paradise of neverending peace and harmony.

I thought "messiah" just means "anointed", and King David was considered "messiah".

Reading the first page I am reminded that Fermat really needs to speak his damn mind and quit trying to be cryptic.

Just express your points man there's no shame in that.

In Hebrew we don't write out G-d's name, so a lot of Jews won't write out the word god if it is being used as a name for the One, just as a metaphorical thing.

We don't write it out so that the name can never be destroyed

I think they're all so shitty and stupid that I've tried to cease all use of the word god.

"Now that the project is turned in I'm going to share my thoughts:

Most of you are joking around, but some of you aren't and are still saying some very ignorant things about Islam as a whole. Islam teaches that "people of the book" (Christians and Jews) are to be seen as friends as long as there is no interference with religious practice. The Prophet taught that tolerance is to be had towards others and that none but Allah can be the judge of right and wrong.

People like Osama bin Laden are seen as being anti-Islam because they continuously break Islamic code. Suicide and murder are not supported by the religion (any denomination of it). There are a lot of other misconceptions needed to be corrected ITT but I don't have the time to go through them all at the moment."

I hope you aren't calling me ignorant. I just answered the question. What I get from the media is that Islam is a religion of violence. Just look at what happened in time square.

^Oh I don't do that. The media is nothing but a group of people telling the story how they want you to see/hear it. But there is no denying that the media does publish lots of information about Islamic extremism and violence.
