"Don't get me wrong, I would certainly prefer that these raids go down with no one/thing getting injured/killed. However, all of your solutions require an officer to not have his primary weapon in hand. This would be a tough sell for anyone going into a high threat situation. These teams maintain a tactical advantage through violence of action. They bank on the fact that their speed, sound, and threat of violence disorients the people in the house long enough to get them in custody."

I think the other eleven guys with semi-automatic rifles could adequately cover a designated animal control in full body armor.

"Keep in mind that as a completely law abiding citizen, you will be killed should they accidentally enter your home in the middle of the night thus causing you to mistake them for robbers and react in kind. This is why they don't need to do these raids so readily. They are way too willing to do this shit in situations where it's completely unnecessary and overly risky for everyone involved."

Exactly, one of the biggest problems with some cops is this He Man complex. Recklessly putting yourself in potentially dangerous situations for no reason to show how awesome your training is and how big your balls are is a very stupid and pointless thing to do. Information is power. Being a meathead is not always the best course of action.

In this particular instance, sure, they found a small amount of weed. This doesn't make your point that this kind of thing doesn't happen to people who don't use illegal drugs valid, however.

"Dennis and Sandra Braswell

May 13, 2007—NC

Several officers from the Hendersonville Police Department accidentally served a warrant at the residence of Dennis and Sandra Braswell. The officers were confused and separated from the other officers assigned to the raid because they had to cross a yard and hop a fence to get to the back door of the actual target’s house. When they entered the house, they found a party with underage drinkers. When the police realized their mistake, they left the premises.

The officers apologized to the owners of the home and called the parents of the underage partygoers to come pick them up. The officers also offered to pay for the damages to the home.

The rest of the raiding party surrounded the correct house and arrested the intended suspect.

that house had about four rooms and the dogs were in the kitchen that was openly ajoining the main room where all the SWAT guys were. Again, know the layout of the fucking house before you bust in the door with fingers on the trigger.

That statement gave me an idea! pepper spray attached to the gun if that makes any sense. That way, some guy wont have to walk in there with a can of pepper spray while his comrads have guns.

lol...alot of work for a paraph charge

Wonder what would've happened had the kid been shot on accident instead of the other dog...charge the father with manslaughter

how will they know the layout of the house?

this isnt military recon, unless they felt the need to hire an undercover agent to stake the place out how the fuck are they gonna know the house had 4 rooms whatever whatever

youd be bitchin about the additional tax dollars they spend for a stakeout operation

^^i guess you want weed smoked in the presence of your child

I remember abotu a year ago we were making fun of this couple that got busted on camera sharin joints with their kid, the dude got the camera at a pawn shop and found the footage

thats cool right?!?!?

Can't you look up basic things in the tax record? Don't blueprints have to be registered somewhere to be approved before a home is built, to make sure that it lives up to building codes?

They're using military equipment, so they'd better treat it appropriately

Nope. If you're going to break in, make sure you have information worth a fucking damn.

The fat cop who had the "perp" sounded like a fucking retard:

Fat Cop: "What is your name?!?!?"
Perp: "I have the right to a lawyer!"
Fat Cop: "I have a right to know your name!!!"

That fucking cracked me up. What an idiot. Also...the sound of the dogs yelping was pretty bad. From a casual observation of something that we don't get a lot of detail of what actually went down (preparations from the raid and info they had, and actual video of the raid instead of a camera very far behind when the actual raid went down)....those cops looked poorly trained and that whole situation looked like a clusterfuck as it went down.

If you aren't prepared and can't properly pull-off a raid like that without killing one dog, injuring another, and only getting some drug paraphernalia charges out of it....THEN YOU DON'T NEED TO BE GOING THROUGH WITH THE FUCKING RAID.

Why not just send two cops over with a search warrant in the middle of the afternoon (presumably while the husband isn't home) and look around the place while the wife calmy sits on the couch with the kid?

I'd really like to know what kind of info they had to make them feel the need to have a paramilitary squad kick down their door in the middle of the night.

I know it's mostly trolls, but at least a couple of you must actually think that everyone should obey every law at all times, no matter what. If you really believe that, you're either ignorant of history, intentionally evil/fascist, or just plain crazy. The fact is, many laws should simply be ignored. ...And don't come in here with some "we don't get to pick and choose which laws we obey blah blah," bullshit. Guess what? We do get pick which laws we obey -- it's called free will. If you think about it, the act itself should speak more loudly than whether it's illegal. If this story was about a child rapist's or murderer's dog getting killed, I doubt many people would come to their defense. You know why? Nearly everyone hates, for good reason, rapists and murderers -- they hurt people. But, the story is about someone with illegal drugs. Mean ole' nasty illegal drugs. The reason many people are coming to their defense is because many, if not most people don't mind illegal drugs or illegal drug users -- they only hurt themselves, and not generally. A lot of people think that some or all illegal drugs should be made legal. Again, think about it: Do you see crowds of protesters pushing for legalized rape or murder? Why not? And yet people protest for legalized drugs. You see, not all laws are the same -- some clearly are okay to break -- some would even say we're obligated to break these unjust laws. You cowards that hide behind the "rule of law" simplify everything to merely being illegal or not, and complete miss what everyone else can plainly see: Some laws should not exist, but as long as they do, people that break those laws shouldn't and can't simply be grouped together with real criminals that break other laws that have near unanimous support. [/words]
