Del Negro is a catastrophe.Nick Young, Mo Williams, Randy Foye, Eric Bledsoe got a combined 78 minutes?!There are 96 minutes at PG/SG. Chris Paul played 40 so there are only 56 left over.So for 22 minutes you had at least two of these bozos in the game ALONG WITH A PG. For an additional 21 minutes you had Bobby Simmons in the game.So for nearly the entire game you were playing one crappy guy at SG plus an extra crappy guy out of position at SF (or Bobby Simmons a crappy guy in position). In the 99 minutes played by those mongloids you got a COMBINED 3(!!!!) REBOUNDS.This is how you manage to lose a game where you shot 56% from FG and 56% from 3's.You get 28 rebounds in an entire freaking game. That's barely one rebound every 2 minutes. Newsflash, this isn't going to work. Maybe try Kenyon Martin at the 3? Maybe let Deandre Jordan have more than 24 minutes?!? Reggie Evans more than 14?!?!The turnover epidemic was awful too, but that wasn't VDNEG's fault.[Edited on May 3, 2012 at 12:46 AM. Reason : a]
5/3/2012 12:42:40 AM
does WP48 account for that?
5/3/2012 12:44:42 AM
^ yes, the WP/48 is multiplied by the minutes allocated to each player. The series prediction was based on a healthy Caron Butler. Now, Butler stinks don't get me wrong. But he is a better SF than Nick Young. Memphis boasts a frontline of Gasol/Randolph/Speights. With big rebounding wings like Gay/Allen. So right off the bat rebounding is already a concern against Memphis. Then to counter that you decide to move guys to SF who are incapable of rebounding as a SG. Genius.Look at these numbers this is just gross:There were 40 collected rebounds when Clippers were on defense. They got 24 of them. So the Clippers got 60% of the defensive rebounds and Memphis got 40% of their potential offensive rebounds. Thats horrible. On the opposite end there were 25 collected rebounds when the Clippers were on offense. They got 4 of them. So the Clippers got 16% of the offensive rebounds and Memphis got 84% of their potential defensive rebounds.Overall Memphis took 8 more field goal attempts and 21 more free throw attempts. How the hell are you supposed to win a game like that, shoot 70% from the field?Maybe, just maybe there's something to this rebounding thing. [Edited on May 3, 2012 at 12:57 AM. Reason : a]

I'm sorry, I'm just speechless as to why the prediction didn't hold true, but I still believe in the metrics, math > basketball
5/3/2012 12:52:42 AM
what do you mean? The math is killing it, i'm up huge right now...
5/3/2012 1:00:01 AM
the math is nice for >50% wins, but only a fool would use it as infallible proof of ranking players
5/3/2012 1:01:40 AM
If a guy is .200 WP/48 and another guy is .00 WP/48 then there is no dispute. If one guy is .110 WP/48 and the other is .107 then it's indisputable that they have similar value.Look I hear what you guys are saying, Dirk Nowitzki is better than Brandan Wright because he can score more points. What you are missing though, is that the ability to score points is not inherently that valuable, only the ability to score points efficiently is valuable (see: Lebron James). When you look at the make-up of the league, it is not difficult to find someone to score points at an average shooting efficiency. There are numerous sources of these points. However, people who create a lot of net possessions adjusted for their position (rebounds + steals - turnovers) like Chris Paul are in short supply, and therefore have a lot of value.Let's say in a game there are going to be 100 possessions each. If you shoot an adjusted FG of 50% and I shoot an adjusted FG of 49% then you win 100-98.But if I can create just 3 net possessions then I win 101-100.So Tyson Chandler has a lot more value than you think when he generates a few marginal rebounds that Brendan Haywood can't get.

I have to agree with rally on the rebounding part of that game last night. Those numbers are fucking garbage.

MAVERICKS SERIES +650(MAVERICKS SERIES vrs THUNDER SERIES) 30/195 NUGGETS SERIES +525(NUGGETS SERIES vrs LAKERS SERIES) 30/157Two teams being counted out too early. I think one of these teams wins both games at home and can hedge for profit. And even if they both go down 3-1 the odds won't be THAT much worse. If i had a better feeling about it I'd go like 200 each, but im saving my boston creme pies for the later rounds.

Denver is not a good team. They are just a fast team that quasi-freebirds and uses altitude as a gimmick. OKC is going to do all the work and Miami is going to win the championship. OKC is going to have to play in back to back to back to back nba finals-level series. They have the toughest road I have ever seen.

Bibby, JR Smith, Fields, Jeffries and Harrellson on the court right now... and holding their own. WTF?** Wade bitching to the refs every time he touches it...[Edited on May 3, 2012 at 7:58 PM. Reason : x]

^ harrellson and fields are highly underrated.Jeffries is blah and bibby stinks. JR Smith has played well
5/3/2012 7:59:29 PM
I like Fields but he struggled for a large chunk of the season... and Harrellson has basically played none since March aside from the who gives a fuck Bobcats game.
5/3/2012 8:00:56 PM
Both teams shooting like crap
5/3/2012 8:07:06 PM

knicks are playing like shit just like the other two games. difference is they are playing defense because amare isn't out there giving up easy shit. still no way miami has that bad of a half again. new york is going to have to start scoring.tech on melo was complete horseshit. battier grabbed his arm. wade has taught him well.
5/3/2012 8:22:06 PM
Can't believe Amare is facing no fines or discipline whatsoever. It wasn't an in game injury; he cut his hand during an infantile display of selfishness. But no, the Knicks are coddling him, he had a tough year, etc. Bear in mind this is a grown ass man making several hundred thousand dollars every game. "Boss, I got carpal tunnel from Starcraft, gonna have to miss a few days." "Sure, Ryan, its whatever, come back when you feel better" Get the fuck out of here.

btw to those of you guys watching on tvhttp://www.tntdrama.com/sports/nba/overtime12/you ought to try that. gives you about 5 or 6 different camera angles, plus its like a dvr so you can rewind. its the shit

^^ guaranteed contract with 3 years left. Dont wanna piss off the "superstar"
5/3/2012 9:01:17 PM
Its a shame Anthony can't get basic foul calls. A headband being knocked off by an elbow should make it easy for the refs but they hate Melo.
5/3/2012 9:03:32 PM
how is that a foul on Wade? what a joke
5/3/2012 9:07:32 PM
Anthony gets to the line all the time. That was obviously a foul, but i can see how they missed it. It was a glancing shot that didn't look like much contact, it was just right to one of the worst spots to eat an elbow. Refs are usually watching the body and the arms not the side of your head facing away from them on a play like thatHeat are really struggling tonight, they need to stop sitting Lebron. I realize he's had a bad game, but damn miller/battier are ice cold. Gotta get lebron in.
5/3/2012 9:09:26 PM
he clearly reached in sofar that anthony was able to shoot it with his hand[Edited on May 3, 2012 at 9:10 PM. Reason : see you in NYC]
5/3/2012 9:09:50 PM
^^^ lol, I see you.You know it's blatant when even Dwayne Wade doesn't piss and moan.
5/3/2012 9:12:48 PM
Norris Cole might be the worst player in any playoff rotation. It's probably either him or Fisher. What a liability. He'd be the third string PG in Charlotte. Really, fourth because Reggie Williams could slide over.
5/3/2012 9:13:04 PM
no point in watching nba if the refs are going to make it this obvious
5/3/2012 9:15:18 PM
I took Seattle getting 3. Wise move or is Dallas going to bring the hammer?
5/3/2012 9:15:24 PM
Carmelo is now 20/60 FG in the series. 33%. With 10 turnovers. Just saying.
5/3/2012 9:16:37 PM
according to face, the 2012 playoffs have the worst player in NBA playoff history, as well as the worst team in NBA playoff historyenjoy this TWW, we're witnessing history
5/3/2012 9:20:04 PM
I was 19 the last time the Knicks won a playoff game
5/3/2012 9:21:21 PM
holy shit Smithmight wanna consider that you only cut the deficit to 8 though before you leisurely walk back down court
5/3/2012 9:22:30 PM
Melo has played like complete shit but make no mistake he's on a team where Bibby and Fields are often the 2nd options.
5/3/2012 9:24:13 PM
Melo has taken like a half dozen shots to the face tonight.
5/3/2012 9:29:20 PM
If there ever was a State Carolina series, this is what it'd be like. Terrible calls eventually leading to terrible play.

5/3/2012 9:37:08 PM
HEY LEBRON! NO ONE WILL EVER CARE! IN THE FINALS! YOU SUCK LEBRON! YOU SUCK!
5/3/2012 9:37:24 PM
I'm probably just going to root for Kobe once the Knicks are gone. Why not?
5/3/2012 9:37:53 PM
Holy shit I just thought of something interesting.I am by no means PREDICTING anything here. But look at what Miami has ahead of them. One more game @NYK who MAY give in down 3-0.A series vs Indiana, the worst #3 seed of our lifetimes who they COULD sweep.Chicago is missing Rose, Boston has a crapload of injuries and could be worn out, Atlanta is missing Horford, and Philly isn't that good. There is a CHANCE Miami could reach the Finals undefeated. That would add some epic drama to the Finals. Has anyone ever reached the finals undefeated then lost? There would be a ridiculous amount of pressure on them to try to go unscathed and since the West should have a great representative in SA or OKC, they might completely fold and lose badly.
5/3/2012 9:42:37 PM
There is no way anybody is going to beat them fresh. The west is a guantlet. OKC playing a great team every round of the playoffs. Utah and Denver are the only teams in the conference that wouldn't win the whole thing . Six of the top 7 teams are on the West. Every other team on the East is completely injured so Miami will be playing their first real series in the finals.
5/3/2012 9:48:22 PM
wait, are you saying that Memphis, LAC, and Dallas are better than Miami??I think Dallas gets it done tonight. Hopefully Durant has another bad game.
5/3/2012 9:52:46 PM
^^^ i think the Lakers swept into the finals one year, then got swept by the Pistons. I could be mistaken though. That dude sitting behind Marv and Steve Kerr has a mean set of old man titties. [Edited on May 3, 2012 at 9:53 PM. Reason : .]
5/3/2012 9:53:19 PM
I'm saying teams 2-7 are in the West. Miami is in the East with teams 1,8,9,10,11
5/3/2012 9:54:08 PM
Boston will beat Miami 4 times, let alone once
5/3/2012 9:59:49 PM
Holy crap Durant has 9 and hasn't hit the rim yet. He is locked in.Boston CAN beat Miami for sure but they are really banged up. Losing Wilcox was bad and now Allen/Stiemsma are both huge question marks. Pierce/Garnett are going to be on their last legs if they reach Miami. They're going to be in for a dogfight to stop Joakim Noah from willing his team to the Conference Finals.[Edited on May 3, 2012 at 10:04 PM. Reason : a]
