So...everyone said a Clemson loss helped our bowl situation. Does the Duke loss put us in the Peach Bowl with a win over BC?]
11/17/2012 6:54:40 PM
Im worried how our reputation as a school will be tarnished when no one shows up to see a SEC team blow us out.TOB has made people not give a fuck
11/17/2012 6:57:26 PM
real fans still give a fuck
11/17/2012 7:00:16 PM

11/17/2012 7:00:57 PM
No fanbase has enough "real fans" to fill half a stadium
11/17/2012 7:01:23 PM
i'm confused, are you saying alabama's fanbase wouldn't fill a stadium?
11/17/2012 7:04:21 PM
the Peach Bowl hinges on Miami, if they win the Coastal they might decline self imposing a bowl ban, since a bowl ban would automatically disqualify them from the ACC title game. if they go to the title game and lose, the Peach Bowl would take 7-6 Miami over 7-5 State. other than that, though, I think we've got it, even if clempson loses to the chickens
11/17/2012 7:06:06 PM
^^Not if they go 6-6 or 7-5[Edited on November 17, 2012 at 7:40 PM. Reason : and their coaches lose their job quick with those results]
11/17/2012 7:39:25 PM
after today's display i am 100% sure clemson will lose to socarwelcome to el paso
11/17/2012 8:07:03 PM
South Carolina was tied with Wofford in the 3rd quarter
11/17/2012 8:23:12 PM
What about GT, the home town team? I would like to think they would get picked over us at this point.
11/17/2012 8:49:35 PM
GT will be 6-6 after UGA rapes them, with worse losses than ours. stranger things have happened though, I'm sure we'll get the perfect storm and still get picked over for someone shittier (though shitty is a relative term in the ACC) and get stuck in some toilet bowl vs the big least again
11/17/2012 9:12:13 PM
Offense is good for bowl games and tv. I'm sure today's game made us sexy in most eyes. We are guaranteed to light up the scoreboard on both sides of the ball.
11/17/2012 9:20:10 PM
lets see here, best case scenarios...Duke (7-5) over Miami (6-6)FSU (11-1) over UF (I suppose this one doesn't matter)UGA over GT (6-6), wins Coastal ---> FSU (12-1) over GT (6-7) in ACC ChampionshipVanderbilt over Wake (5-7), ineligibleUVA (5-7) over VT (5-7), double ineligible Clemson (11-1) over USCand of course, State (7-5) over BC (2-10)That leaves:FSU (12-1) Champion, Orange BowlClemson (11-1) BCS At-LargeNC State (7-5)Duke (7-5)Miami (6-6) likely self imposed bowl banGT (6-7), will need the UCLA rulelolol the ACC sucks[Edited on November 17, 2012 at 9:46 PM. 11/17/2012 9:42:59 PM
I think Duke may get picked over us. They are an attractive pick since it is their first bowl game in forever. Plus, I think they would have a decent amount of fans travel for the same reason.
11/17/2012 9:48:21 PM
bowls are all about selling tickets and tv attendance, Duke doesn't have any football fans, Duke making it's first bowl since 1994 isn't even a big deal in Durhamworst case scenario:Miami (7-5) over Duke (6-6)GT (7-5) over UGAWake (6-6) over VanderbiltVT (6-6) over UVA (4-8)FSU (11-1) over UF --> Miami (8-5) over FSU (11-2), ACC ChampionBC (3-9) over NC State (6-6)USC over Clemson (10-2)That leaves...Miami (8-5), ACC Champion Orange BowlFSU (11-2)Clemson (10-2)GT (7-5)VT (6-6)NC State (6-6)Wake (6-6)Duke (6-6)
11/17/2012 9:55:05 PM
BC game won't be televised, not a good sign for bowl selection
11/18/2012 1:04:23 PM
Miami officially self-imposes bowl ban, so GT will play FSU in Charlotte for the ACC Championship
11/19/2012 10:26:35 AM
I have a question. GT is 6-5 right now. If they lose to UGA and FSU they will be 6-7. Does this mean they will no longer be bowl eligible? Yes I know you have to have a non-losing record, but does that mean you have to be a non-losing record in the regular season, or does it mean including championship games you have to have a non-losing record?

so now..FSU - ACC Champion, Orange BowlClemson - BCS At-Large, Sugar BowlGa. Tech - ACC runner-up. I think the Peach bowl selects the home team, especially since we already played there this seasonNC State - Russell Athletic Bowl?Duke - Sun Bowl?Va. Tech? - Hokies beat UVA at home to finish (6-6, 4-4). Belk Bowl?Wake? - Vandy is on a tear, winning 5 straightMiamiUNCMiamiB.C.UVA

I'm down for Orlando, I'll make it a Universal Studies/football weekend
11/19/2012 11:04:34 AM
well that makes things easy, we either get the Peach Bowl or the Russell Athletic Bowl, and somehow I doubt the Peach Bowl will be salivating at the thought of taking a 6-7 GT team after how big of a fiasco it was when UCLA got in at 6-7 last year and got embarassed by a sorry Illinois team.
11/19/2012 11:20:30 AM
Bowl's are about money, and we weren't a smart investment in Atlanta already once this year
11/19/2012 11:28:40 AM
As long as FSU takes care of business in ACC Championship game, then their UF game does not matter. 11-2 or 12-1, doesn't really matter for them, since they will go to the Orange Bowl either way winning the ACC.Clemson should handle USC with Lattimore out, and finish 11-1. Otherwise, we threw the game last week for nothing This leaves a cluster-fuck of shit sandwiches:NCSU will likely beat BC, 7-5GT will likely beat Duke and lose to FSU, 6-7VT will likely beat UVA, 6-6Duke will likely lose to GT, 6-6WF will lose to Vandy, 5-7, no bowlMiami and UNC can't go to a bowlUVA, MD, BC can't qualify for a bowlIf I was the Chicken Bowl people, I would tell the ACC to fuck off, and give away our bid to a different conference this year. I know they can't do that, but it will be interesting to see who the pick. NCSU already played there once this season, had a low turn out compared to other teams, and got beat by a terrible Tennessee team. GT will likely have a losing record, and though they are the home town team, GT fan base sux, and never comes close to filling their own stadium. VT might be their best pick, since they would have the best traveling fan base, and has played some really competitive games this year despite losing a lot. No way Duke gets picked.
11/19/2012 11:38:43 AM
Ok I do have another question about the UCLA Rule. I don't really remember anything about it from last year, but from what I looked up they got to go because they were forced to go to the Pac 10 Championship game at 6-6 because USC wasn't eligible to go. Would that decision be different if UCLA earned a spot in the Pac 10 Championship game at 6-6 and lost? Because they weren't forced to go. So if GT loses they are 6-6 and if Duke beats Miami, GT earns its spot in the ACC Championship game. If they lose does the UCLA rule still apply? Or does it only apply if they are forced to go to the game because the team that should have gone isn't going because of sanctions? And USC's sanctions were NCAA imposed and Miami's are self-imposed; does that make a difference on how the rule will be applied? Sorry I'm studying for law school finals and I know I'm analyzing this stuff like a law school problem.
11/19/2012 12:08:53 PM
I could give a crap about us going back to Atlanta or Charlotte. I'm hoping for the Music City Bowl. Hopefully we would play a crappy enough opponent to stand a chance.
11/19/2012 3:21:02 PM
Chick fila can blame themselves for making the game Friday for our turnout, but it won't be much better to watch us get creamed by UGA or LSU.
11/19/2012 4:27:49 PM
Ok well anyone interested I have done a little research myself. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/08/ncaa_creates_bowl-eligibility.htmlGives a little insight to recent rule changes for bowl eligibility. And to answer the question, there are currently 63 bowl eligible teams as of now. That list does include Miami and GT. If GT loses the last 2, they will no longer technically be on that list, but they can get a bowl game per one of those exceptions in the link above. Link below is the list of currently bowl eligible teams. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/jerry-palm/20618572
11/19/2012 5:03:36 PM
likely scenario:FSU (11-2 or 12-1, doesn't matter) --> Orange BowlClemson (11-1) --> BCS At Large (might be viable even at 10-2)NC State (7-5)Duke (6-6) (though Miami might not give a shit and lose. Still, a 7-5 Duke team poses no threat)Virginia Tech (6-6) GT (6-7)Wake (5-7) INELIGIBLE Chicken Bowl takes Clemson if they don't get a BCS, and are stuck with us or VT if they get an At Large. No way they take Duke or a 6-7 GT team. Technically, if Duke beats Miami, GT wins the conference division outright and in that case, I don't think they can get a UCLA rule waiver (since they didn't get forced into the game), but who knows? Still, I doubt they'd want to go down that rabbit hole. So at best, Chicken Bowl, at worst, Sun Bowl. Beats the hell out of getting stuck in Charlotte AGAIN.
11/19/2012 5:21:10 PM
If we gotta go to a shitty bowl, I'd rather go to the shitty bowl in Charlotte
11/19/2012 5:32:51 PM
What has to happen for us to go to Orlando? Harry Potter > Atlanta
11/19/2012 5:43:09 PM
Anyone else pulling for Sun Bowl so it doesn't look so bad when no one shows up for TOB's last hurrah? It has a good payout, even if you have to go through Juarez to get to the stadium.
11/19/2012 6:30:04 PM
If we lose to BC can I go get shitfaced in Nashville?

Both teams in a bowl game get the same payout.
11/22/2012 1:12:24 PM
^Ummm, its not like the losing team walks away with nothing; pretty sure both teams get paid an appearance fee, not a payout based on game performance.
