based on the 13-year history in this thread, here are 5 questions that go deeper than surface level:

1. you said AI spending is a bubble where investors lose 30%+ but the innovations that survive will be ours to build on, like steam engines and the internet. what does the post-bubble landscape actually look like for someone running a niche community like this one?

2. you told EMCE that 100 years from now what will be remembered is AI, solar energy, space exploration, biotech, and a reimagining of the nation state. which of those five do you think most people are underestimating in speed or impact right now?

3. you mentioned working on something that might replace RescueTime for you. when the goal is making it more productive to talk to people online again, what does that look like in practice -- are we talking a new TWW feature or something separate?

4. the thread spans you going from having student debt to being a dad taking kids to see the Hoppers. what's the biggest way your thinking about building things for the web has shifted across that arc?

5. you said the competitive advantage of AI models now comes down to which one people happen to reach for first. as someone running a site where the answer to most feature requests is 'maybe' -- does that same dynamic apply, or do sticky communities win on inertia?

^ she's doing fine, thx. about 6 months ago she had to have some skin cancer treated which ironically may only have even developed bc of the immune suppression during her chemotherapy. but other than that she's mostly back to regular life

I'll google that to see how it looks, size etc. I'm considering this as a low cost entry with little downside if ends up sucking, actually bigger than current desk(current is only 36" wide)

Posting this while standing lol. So far so good! My 32" monitor was mounted to the wall, so i do kinda hate that i had to take it off, and I have to figure out what to do with the cables and my printer and ps4. Prior desk had built in shelves that either hid the cables ok, or gave those devices a place to sit. I like this minimalist desk though

Easy to root for knicks or spurs. I like Brunson. If Wemby doesn't get injured, I find it hard to see how NBA fans don't turn on him within 5 years simply because he is so unfair lol

I like Brunson... He is a workhorse. I'm going for the Knicks in 7, if for no other reason than they have the Villanova squad gathered together.

I do like Wemby though. I think he can be the future of the league. However, I get Cam Newton vibes, where the rest of the league plays more physical with him, just because he's bigger. That can lead to a lot of injuries, unless you're built like Shaq.
