Hi I work a job where I can literally kill two innocent people, get a paid vacation for a month, and then get put back on the job with no punishment.Life's great, isn't it.

^ i'm thinking you were likely raped by a man in a cop's uniformi'm also thinking you likely enjoyed it and are ashamed of yourselfdude...no one will judge you, just admit that you liked it and allow us to accept you for who you are
7/16/2010 9:36:52 AM
I also think that it is very obvious that there is some sort of "not telling the whole story" going on here.I think the bottom line is that the cop was being careless (to say the least) and an 11 year old died as a result of that.
7/16/2010 9:39:18 AM
i'll just say what everyone is thinkingit was the kid's fault
7/16/2010 9:40:47 AM
^^^You are such a cop apologist it's sickening.A small child was KILLED, as in dead... no longer alive.... buried and rotting in the ground, because of this man's actions. And you're defending him, saying that he did nothing wrong. What the hell is the matter with you.[Edited on July 16, 2010 at 9:41 AM. Even if he was responding to a legitimate call, and there's proof of this, he still had careless and reckless action that resulted in two deaths. This should be even more strict considering he had the training on driving and judgment to avoid such an action, and it still happened. At the very least that's manslaughter. At the worst if he was intentionally careless that's a murder charge.

I still don't get peoples logic; speeding to catch up with a violator DOES NOT equal a chase
7/16/2010 10:38:00 AM
^ STFU...it's a chase because chases are bad and we want to spin this to be as bad as possible everyone knows that you can catch speeders by going slower than they are
7/16/2010 10:45:34 AM
7/16/2010 10:45:59 AM
^ amen...119mph should be the limit, no excuses
7/16/2010 10:46:38 AM
or maybe a 3 murder and you're out limit before imposing any speed restrictions?[Edited on July 16, 2010 at 10:52 AM. Reason : e]
7/16/2010 10:50:01 AM
shit happens. get over it.
7/16/2010 10:53:19 AM
especially when going 120 in order to collect taxes
7/16/2010 10:59:10 AM
and what do you propose? not going after anyone who is speeding? just let them go? so cut traffic enforcement then? fuck, let people do what they want on the roads. and murders, robbers, etc. would never think about hoping into a car to get away, then speed. oh lord no they wouldn't. and speed enforcement is solely to collect a tax. it's not to punish and dissuade people from speeding. it's not an effort to protect other drivers from assholes who think they're on a race circuit.[Edited on July 16, 2010 at 11:04 AM. 7/16/2010 11:01:22 AM
i agree with you completely...if the sole purpose is to collect taxes, 115mph should be the top endi mean, at some point you just have to draw a line, right?
7/16/2010 11:01:31 AM
yep, and killing people is toeing right on that line.
7/16/2010 11:17:52 AM
do you get this angry when speeders cause traffic accidents, serious injury, or death?I mean, if those are the only reasons you hate law enforcement so much, shouldn't you be just as angry at criminals then? I'm willing to be non-LEOs kill more people with their driving habits than LEOs.
7/16/2010 11:20:12 AM
The sole purpose of speeding tickets is to collect revenue. This has been admitted by police officers.Ever wonder why there's a "speeding campaign" by the Highway Patrol coincidentally during a budget crisis?
7/16/2010 11:21:36 AM
awesome, so now wanting to hold officers accountable for piss poor judgement = hating law enforcementgigantic lapses in reason itt
7/16/2010 11:25:48 AM
But don't you see!? They're just doing their jobs!If a McDonalds worker messes up on the job and forgets your change, he should be immediately fired. If a police officer messes up and kills two people. He should get a paid vacation and then put back on the job.
7/16/2010 11:27:40 AM
I think I said somewhere on a previous page that there isn't a limit on how fast they can go to catch a speeder, but maybe there should be. I mean 120 in a 55 is 218% the speed limit, through a signalized intersection. I'm not a CE but I feel like road features are not designed with 218% of the speed limit for line of sight and safety factors, but maybe I'm wrong? This would be the equivalent of barreling through downtown at 76 in a 35 to catch somebody going 50. I mean as a ME, if I design a beach chair with a 150 lb limit labeled, even if it has a safety factor of 2 and a 300 lb person breaks it, I'm going to say that it's the 300 lb person's fault for ignoring the limit. Obviously this situation is nowhere as simple as that as there are a multitude of factors, but I feel like maybe we should investigate putting a limit on an officer's speed. Especially when,

Contact your local rep because no laws were broken
7/16/2010 11:39:36 AM
well hell, that makes everything a-ok then.
7/16/2010 11:40:59 AM
Of course it doesnt make everything a-ok, the situation is tragic to be sure. But this trooper shouldn't be crucified for.
7/16/2010 11:45:26 AM
so having sex while on duty (a largely victimless action) is a fireable offense, but reckless manslaughter isn't?The state of NC is a crazy employer
7/16/2010 11:50:04 AM
I don't believe that it is. The other vehicle crossed into the trooper's path when he had the right of way. He wasn't violating any laws. So no, why should he be fired or prosecuted as some here would like?

hey lookcop hatingremember how much you hate cops the next time a black guy mugs you down on the street (mean mug not assualt and robbery)
7/16/2010 1:08:53 PM
I'm not saying charge the trooper with murder, but the first step to fixing a problem is to admit that one exists.
7/16/2010 1:10:56 PM
They will never publicly admit fault. Even if they had a video of him saying "FUCK IT IMMA SEE HOW FAST THIS BABY GOESS *VROOOOM*" they would still say he acted appropriately.Fuck, when a guy can shoot someone in the back of the head and have his department say it was "a good shoot," we're really not going to a nice place in the future.
