wait... State lost to Cincy by 30??
8/28/2012 6:40:31 PM
Rivers played with 4*+ recruits for most of his career. The 2nd greatest WR we've ever had (Koren), TA Mcclendon, Jerricho Cotchery, the list goes on with receivers who were significantly better than what we've had to put up with the past several seasons.^ Yes. Our defense was putrid but Glennon was awful too. He was a bit color blind that game. Defense was so bad I'm not sure Wilson could have gotten us in that game, but we obviously wouldn't have lost by almost 50.[Edited on August 28, 2012 at 6:43 PM. Reason : a]

no, no, we didn't lose to cincy by 30, glennon did

Rivers never had protection like the line at Wisonsin and all the infamous 4* packed Amato recruiting classes went to shit after River's left. He made them better, not the other way around.

Glennon turned it on from the Clemson game on I'll readily admit that. That's the only reason people are optimistic that we can win 7-8 games this year.We saw how bad we are when we get bad play from the QB position the first 70% of the year.
8/28/2012 6:51:34 PM
8/28/2012 6:51:49 PM
Marcus Stone was a terrible QB. One of the worst in ACC history. But he was a hyped recruit who hadn't proven anything on the field yet. Just like Glennon.
8/28/2012 6:53:00 PM
TOB knew Glennon was good. He saw it everyday in spring practice...he didn't see RW in spring practice last year. The two situations (Rivers/Stone RW/Glennon) are not comparable at all

Face, 7/7/2011, 12:28:55 AM:
8/28/2012 6:57:45 PM
TOB told Russell before he left for baseball that he would lose his job if he left. We had a new receiving corps and needed a QB to practice with them. I respect TOB for keeping his word. I respect Russell for paving his own path and always speaking highly of NC State, the fans, and the coaches. Why is there so much animosity. Russell is starting, TOB has us looking like a perennial 9-10 win team, and Glennon might be a 1st rounder next year. We should all be ecstatic for all parties. Also,
8/28/2012 7:01:22 PM
I don't think there's any animosity over RW starting. face is trying to argue that TOB is a bad coach for cutting RW, even though he didn't cut him and the outcome probably ended up being best for all parties involved.

I didn't start the argument. I tried to end it five times, but you guys won't let it die.It was a decision he made based on his personal job security. He probably looked at it as "well with Glennon I can't get fired for the next 2 years and probably 3 since we'll be good those two years."By keeping Russell we could have really stunk this year, and definitely next year. So I understand what he was doing. I just wish he hadn't done it.But it's not over yet. If Glennon has us in position to legitimately compete for an ACC title this year then it wasn't definitively a bad decision. If he doesn't, then it was. That should be obvious to everyone.Let's not look at this as simpletons and say "2 years of Glennon is better than 1 of Wilson". If we compete for the ACC title then maybe it was better. If we win the ACC title then it was better. If we don't compete for the ACC title again, then it was clearly not better. This shouldn't be hard. The goal isn't to sacrifice a few great teams for a bunch of mediocre ones. It's the opposite.[Edited on August 28, 2012 at 8:11 PM. Reason : a]

^ Sorry, I should clarify. I'm saying it blew up in our face because so far this team does not appear to be competitive in the ACC. If it IS competitive then it's not as big of a mistake. But RW becoming the golden boy of the NFL is not helping our case. We're going to get a lot of negative attention when people find out he used to go to NC State but we released him.
8/28/2012 8:13:07 PM
8/28/2012 8:14:39 PM
exactly! we have yet to win a game! if we had kept RW, we would have won at least 3 or 4 games by now!!!
8/28/2012 8:17:17 PM
^ no, RW would have exhausted his eligibility and someone else would be the starter this year.We would have won the additional games LAST year. Why is this so difficult for you guys?[Edited on August 28, 2012 at 8:38 PM. Reason : a]
8/28/2012 8:38:19 PM
Wilson would've torn his ACL for us last year in week 2. Why is that so hard to understand?
8/28/2012 8:43:14 PM
He's right. Schools always get tons of negative attention when they fulfill requests that are in the best interests of student athletes. People hate respectability.
8/28/2012 8:45:41 PM
Can we delete the last 4 pages of this thread and get back on track?!?
8/28/2012 9:42:25 PM
the only negative attention i've ever seen from this is from our own idiot fans.hell even tarhole fans consider that too weak to throw at us.

giving up that return touchdown to David Wilson to begin the second half pretty much fucked up that game
8/29/2012 11:45:13 AM
^ yep, no doubt about it Russell kept us in that game that we had no business being in.VT was head and shoulders better than us. They were in our backfield every play the entire game.On top of that, I've never seen so many missed tackles in one game. We'd have Tyrod sacked by two defenders on third down and he'd squirm out of it and complete a pass for the first down.

for brevity's sake, can we combine this and the P.Riv thread and the NC State in the NFL thread into one thread?

let's add in any college or nfl football thread in there too, keep that clutter down
8/29/2012 12:00:01 PM
that makes no sense
8/29/2012 12:00:25 PM
you sure can be annoying
8/29/2012 12:03:43 PM
yes Wilson threw an INT that game that was his fault at the end of the first half.I'd say us calling the trick play (fumble) when we were up 17-0 was worse than that. I'd say giving up a TD because we tried to make a big tackle instead of just pushing the guy out of bounds as he tiptoed down the sideline for 80 yards was obviously worse.RW played his ass off that game. With Glennon at the helm we probably lose 45-0. I've never seen a guy forced to scramble on every single pass. We couldn't get two seconds of pass protection in that game. Literally, every single play was a total jailbreak.Watch the game again. Criticizing RW for that loss is inane. Criticize him for a game where he actually played poorly like ECU. Not one where he was the only guy on the field who looked like he belonged at that level.
8/29/2012 12:04:24 PM
and here comes face, trying to "end the argument". Sometimes you can be funny, but when you go on these stupid tirades, I don't even read your blocks of text.[Edited on August 29, 2012 at 12:06 PM. Reason : especially when you've demonstrated time and again that you rarely even watch games]
8/29/2012 12:05:39 PM
I watch every game and clearly I remember it better than most on here.RW got torn apart on these boards after the VT game because everyone was butthurt that we lost.In reality, RW kept us in that game from start to finish, which was a miracle because we were outclassed at the other 21 positions on the field and we got torched on special teams.Go ahead. Someone pull up the video of that game. I'm right, period.[Edited on August 29, 2012 at 12:13 PM. Reason : a]

I don't care. I don't write informative posts for people incapable of learning. It's the same reason I gave up talking to liberals. They aren't going to ever get it.
8/29/2012 12:17:10 PM
Do you realize that what you call liberals is ~90% of the college educated world.
8/29/2012 12:18:55 PM

That's because education is firmly controlled by liberals. You don't see the bias there?"Formal education is merely a biased entity designed to propagate favoured ideas. Few teach us how to think rationally, but instead teach us to rely on indoctrination and memorization. Consequently, formal education has handed down from one generation to the next, theories that not only clash with the reality of events, but ensure confusion for decades to come."Have you ever noticed the people with the most formal education usually know the least? Let me know when you've studied from independent thinkers rather than special interest controlled "educators".
