^^ Hai. I really wanted to be a CIR, but I wasn't confident enough in my language ability to apply for the position
10/17/2006 6:57:11 AM
what is CIR?
10/17/2006 7:26:16 AM
They basically sit at a desk at the Board of Education translating documents, doing interpretation, dealing with ALTs when they call to complain about something, and setting up "cultural exchanges."
10/17/2006 7:38:40 AM
I found it hard to picture the castles, most were elevated and it was hard not to get those ugly bottom stones all in the picture.
10/17/2006 8:39:19 AM

I am so freakin jealous. I would love to go to and live in Japan. I have a serious Asian Persuasion. Please post more pics! I swear if I was single I would ditch Bumpkinville, USA and go there.
10/18/2006 2:51:22 AM
There's a job opening in my boyfriend's company if you want to ditch anyway
10/18/2006 4:42:38 AM
That sounds waaay too tempting. But I am making bank to watch the weather here and I speak all of five words of Japanese (which I will be correcting in the near future). I must say though that torii from your Kyoto picture is HUGE!!!
10/18/2006 4:48:30 AM
That's more words than my boyfriend knew when he came over Yeah, that torii is freakin' awesome. Here's another pic of it:The cracka underneath it is me
10/18/2006 4:52:27 AM
You just totally made my day. It's good to know that someone else has an appreciation for Japan without being condescending about it because I am some stupid American with googly eyes for the "Far East".
10/18/2006 4:56:15 AM
^ Yeah, you meet a lot of those idiots over here unforunately.
10/18/2006 5:01:51 AM
If I may ask, how "Americanized" have the people become in Japan? I was saddened when after talking to the only Japanese girl that I have ever met that I knew more about Japanese history and customs than she did.
10/18/2006 5:16:20 AM
It all depends where you are. I live out in the countryside so a lot of things are still done the traditional way. There's a sake store down the street from me that's been in operation since the 16th century But the kids I teach, all they care about is fashion and McDonald's.
10/18/2006 7:00:18 AM
Have you ever been to and/or participated in any of the Shinto festivals?
