i should preface this by saying that i suck at cooking. It took me an hour and a half. I decided that it would be good to add a little orange zest to the filling even though it wasn't in the receipe. Now i have ravioli that taste like orange zest. Why do i do shit like this
10/24/2007 6:23:14 PM
wonton wrappers ftw
10/24/2007 6:24:01 PM
yea i've done stupid things like that too.like adding loads and loads of pepper to chili to prove my manliness to my friends, only to find myself working on the same serving of chili days later.
10/24/2007 6:25:02 PM
go to bed bath and beyond and get some dave's insanity sauce--that'll prove you're a man[Edited on October 24, 2007 at 6:26 PM. Reason : &]

the hottest shit i've ever eaten--it's so friggin' hot that it's actually startling when you taste it
10/24/2007 6:30:10 PM
Not the hottest sauce in the world, but the hottest in the universe!!!1
10/24/2007 6:35:53 PM
yall notice the funniest things in pictures. And are very talented topic hyjackers
10/24/2007 6:38:15 PM
oh i'll hijack your topic alright... ]
10/24/2007 6:38:59 PM
did the ravioli taste good?
10/24/2007 6:39:22 PM
10/24/2007 6:39:52 PM
they had a very acidic fruity flavor from the orange. I just thought they were toooo plain the way were so i tryed to ..... improvise. FAIL/
10/24/2007 6:47:20 PM
^^oh, there are a dozen or so sauces or "additives" that are hotter--but not that anyone would actually eat
10/24/2007 6:48:20 PM
i use endorphin rushabout 3 drops in a huge vat of chili
10/24/2007 6:48:52 PM
I have a question. Why are you posting on here when you need to get back in the kitchen and make me some ravioli?
10/24/2007 6:49:13 PM
I've tried both Dave's Insanity Sauce and Endorphin RushEndorphin Rush tastes like prunes mixed with habaneros.Dave's insanity sauce is about as hot, but has a much better flavor.
10/24/2007 6:51:26 PM
i'll take your word for it. ^Daves wins
10/24/2007 6:52:05 PM
granted, the flavor is lacking
10/24/2007 6:52:13 PM
a dame that cant cook. what a shame.
10/24/2007 6:54:08 PM
she can make orange raviolis
10/24/2007 6:54:58 PM
i can shit in a frying pan, doesnt mean i'm a cook.
10/24/2007 6:55:31 PM
i was just impressed she could spell it
10/24/2007 6:55:49 PM
^^i wonder what that would smell like.....[Edited on October 24, 2007 at 6:56 PM. Reason : ]
10/24/2007 6:55:59 PM
probably like shit
10/24/2007 6:56:45 PM
Well i guess i should say that it not that i suck at cooking so much as it is that i try to cook fairly complicated stuff (at least for somone who is experienced in the kitchen)they dont taste bad, im hoping i can tone down the citrus with some cream in the sause
10/24/2007 6:59:33 PM
you're just going to screw it up worse. you messed up. now give that ravioli to me and go make yourself something else
10/24/2007 7:01:09 PM
what else was in the filling that you thought orange zest would go well with it?
10/24/2007 7:02:18 PM
actually... mabey i didn't mess them up afterall. The sause calls for 2 teaspoons lemon zest so ill just not put in the lemon zest and just add a splash of lemon juice. This might not be to bad afterall!
10/24/2007 7:03:51 PM
Oh god
10/24/2007 7:04:54 PM
there is a big difference in cooking with citric acid and using zest. not the best idea.
10/24/2007 7:05:02 PM
i have had insanity sauce, and it is far and away the hottest thing i've ever experienced.
10/24/2007 7:06:05 PM
i have faith in you, it's hard to mess up food to the point where it's uneatable.this thread has inspired me to make a nice hearty breakfast tomorrow. thank you, Jen
10/24/2007 7:06:16 PM
but why is this that bad. IT says use zest, ive already added it so it sould seem like it would make it better.... right??
10/24/2007 7:07:56 PM
Don't use the lemon juice.
10/24/2007 7:10:46 PM
unless you are using an olive oil sauce, i highly suggest you avoid the lemon juice. adding it to tomato base which is already acidic will make it overly acidic. adding it to cream will curdle it.
10/24/2007 7:31:19 PM
wow, did you just make a post that was helpful and not in any way degrading?
10/24/2007 7:34:28 PM
its an olive oil sause

well then youll probably be alright.i help mildly attractive women on the rare occasion.
10/24/2007 7:37:35 PM
Why in God's name would you add orange zest to the filling? What kind of ravioli was this?
10/24/2007 7:44:24 PM
roasted chicken, ricotta, gratted parm, and basil
10/24/2007 7:52:26 PM
I'd a'thrown some spinach in them motherfuckers. I love everything florentine.
10/24/2007 7:55:30 PM
They have this shit at Southern Season that's pure capsaicin or something. I remember it being something around $100 for a bottle of it.
10/24/2007 8:00:00 PM
^^and spinach is a good match with orange, imo. good idea.]
10/24/2007 8:05:33 PM
So i only used like half the chicken from the ravioli...... so today I took the other half of the chicken and attempted to make chicken salad. Grapes, walnuts, chives, celery, dash of curry...At least i didn't fuck that up. Tastes pretty good
10/25/2007 11:34:27 AM
Sauceok, Zest vs juice. Zest gives the flavor of the citrus fruit without adding shitloads of acidity. Juice adds lots of acidity and a little flavor. Both are good depending on what you're trying to do.
10/25/2007 11:40:58 AM
I can't stand fruit in chicken salad.Best chicken salad I have ever had:ChickenCeleryOnionsMayoSaltWhite PepperWorcestershire sauce (this makes it)All basically to taste. It's extremely simple and fantastic.[Edited on October 25, 2007 at 11:42 AM. Reason : ]
