i'd say its second level. First levels are obviously nyc chitown and some others but raleigh is right there in the 2nd level of pizza townsOriginial unique experiences on raleigh's starting pizza lineup like mellow mushroom and lily's who both have their own style and atmosphere put raleigh up there with that 1-2 punch. Then you have some great ny style places like vincent's and amore's. I personally am not a big fan of sylvias and <3 but some people tell me they are great places. are they? even without raleigh is coming hard when it comes to pizza.

hahah, not even close buddyRaleigh sucks ass when it comes to good pizza. You can take my word on it. I'm a pizza snob.
2/10/2008 11:42:37 PM
yeah i chuckled and shook my head at this nonsense.
2/10/2008 11:43:12 PM
Sylvia's is some of the best pizza I have ever tasted. Far, FAR better than Mellow Mushroom (though this can be said about many pizza places). I <3 NY is also pretty good, but I tend towards Sylvia's unless the people I'm with want to go NY.I will agree with some others, though, that we really don't have much when it comes to pizza. A few somewhat original establishments does not a pizza town make.[Edited on February 10, 2008 at 11:44 PM. Reason : .]
2/10/2008 11:43:28 PM
oh god this will get messy
2/10/2008 11:43:39 PM
yeah i'm backing out of this before it begins.
2/10/2008 11:44:28 PM
amore's is the best by far on hansbrough st. I've been all over nyc lived there a while and amore's would be one of the better places i've eaten at. Really only found 2 out of like 100 places in nyc better.
2/10/2008 11:45:22 PM
you don't know pizza until you find a place that gives you the choice of either their homemade sweet or homemade spicy sauce.I've said my peace. ]
2/10/2008 11:45:28 PM
Mellow Mushroom started in Georgia and has locations in nearly 20 states. I would hardly call that "original unique experiences".Also, Moonlight Pizza FTW.
2/10/2008 11:45:52 PM
lol Chicho's ftw.

2/10/2008 11:50:58 PM

2/10/2008 11:51:12 PM

If you like domino's, marco's, and papa johns then its a great pizza town. Too bad they all suck, and so does Lilly's.
2/10/2008 11:54:48 PM
i'm going to go out on a limb and agree that Raleigh is a pizza town...and when Milanos used to exist, it was hot shit too[Edited on February 10, 2008 at 11:59 PM. Reason : sdfgdfssdfgsdf]

This thread is begging for a KngDouchebag sighting.
2/10/2008 11:57:49 PM
same can be said for vincents. with all the new new yorkers here they bring their pizza culture with the. vincent was one of the most succesffull pizzaers in the city before moving everything here.same with sal.

2/11/2008 12:02:16 AM
lmao
2/11/2008 12:11:20 AM
if raleigh is a great pizza town, that would mean that boone is a great pizza town. and i've never considered boone to be much of a pizza town. therefore, this thread is shit.
2/11/2008 12:27:34 AM
I love Amore's and Sylvias, probably my 2 favorite pizza places anywhere.NY Pizza sucks.Mellow Mushroom is good but overrated and somewhat overpriced.[Edited on February 11, 2008 at 12:35 AM. Reason : ]
2/11/2008 12:35:26 AM
^^ he's saying its a second level pizza town, not a true pizza town.. there are very few pizza towns and I honestly don't know what I think about raleigh being a second level town. We have a lot of non-chain options that are good/decent, but a lot of people from raleigh seem to think these places are top top notch (omg, omg) when in reality they're decent non chain options in the area.[Edited on February 11, 2008 at 12:36 AM. FWIW, and while I do not agree nor disagree with this thread and I will not voice my own opinion, rather, I will just report what I've seen:MSN rated the Top 10 Pizza Parlor's in America and the list wentPizza Place in NYPizza Place in NYPizza Place in NYPizza Place in ChicagoPizza Place in NYPizza Place in ChicagoLilly's Pizza in RaleighPizza Place in NYPizza Place in NYPizza Place in ChicagoThat's an objective opinion

^ MSN city guide also rated mitch's as one of the top 10 pub's in the US.[Edited on February 11, 2008 at 12:45 AM. Reason : I would have to say there rankings are full of shit]
2/11/2008 12:42:21 AM
UhWhat pizza does Raleigh have that no other city in America has?

2/11/2008 12:45:14 AM
speaking of gumby's i heard it is coming back. going where papa john's was by school kids. that might just be a rumor though.

2/11/2008 12:51:17 AM
many would no doubt disagree, but I like I <3 NYP more than any other place in Raleigh
2/11/2008 12:57:51 AM
I left out two great ones because they have more than one location but they are all here.Miltons and RudinosRaleigh is without a doubt a pizza town.
2/11/2008 1:01:46 AM
I think it all comes down to how you like your pizza.I'm not big on the floppy crust, so I <3 ny is out for me.I like the crust to be thin, but also crispy and somewhat chewy, which describes both Amore's and Sylvia's. You could probably take me to the greatest floppy crust NY pizza parlor in the world and I still would prefer Sylvia's.Chicago style is good, but to me it's more like eating a casserole than a pizza.
2/11/2008 1:01:51 AM
ya i screwed up. i'm not as good a poster as raleigh is a pizza town obviously.
2/11/2008 1:25:18 AM
HAVE YOU GUISE BEEN TO THIS PLACE CALLED DOMINO'S?!?!1 OMG IT'S THE BEST PIZZA EVAR!!!!!!!11
2/11/2008 3:10:23 AM
I am satisfied with Raleigh's pizza choices. Mellow Mushroom, Capital Creations, and Lilys are alll good eats you snooty bastards.
