Why does everyone hate on roses so much? Sure they're common, but why does that matter? Just because lots of other people get them doesn't make them dumb. Of course, if there's some other flower she likes more it makes sense to get those instead, or if she doesn't like flowers obviously they would be dumb, but lots of girls like roses just fine. Though the price spike around this holiday is kind of a deterrent.

I don't like how one-sided this so-called holiday is for most couples. Guy is expected to pony up for overpriced flowers/chocolate and a mediocre dinner in an overcrowded restaurant, plus jewelry if it's serious...girl puts out (which shouldn't be much of a change in a healthy relationship).
