2/23/2008 11:46:30 PM
We used to make turkey chili all the time back in college.
2/23/2008 11:48:06 PM
wow, that looks pretty cool, its funny how no one thinks of south america as a getaway vaction spot
2/23/2008 11:48:09 PM
it probably that their currency is worth more than ours now
2/23/2008 11:53:58 PM
it is?
2/23/2008 11:55:53 PM
uh no.
2/24/2008 12:06:51 AM

2/24/2008 12:09:58 AM

2/24/2008 12:12:32 AM

2/24/2008 12:16:51 AM
ADD TO MY WISHLIST
2/24/2008 12:18:48 AM
i think if i went there i'd try to dress like a local, so i dont get ripped offman i need a vacation
2/24/2008 12:20:30 AM
any country that will take us currency always rips you off. haha. i havent done much out of country travelling. just a cruise around the caribbean and a few trips across the mexican border by foot. but i think from now on, i'll always make sure to bring the right currency. just to be sure. either that or get some thing for my cell phone to let me know if im getting ripped
2/24/2008 12:20:34 AM
and ps - PERU is the spot in south america. i always remember my spanish teacher talking about like 9 million people right on the beach. plus it seems like one of my girlfriends had family there and said it was totally baller down there
2/24/2008 12:21:42 AM
^^yeah, you gotta know what stuff is supposed to cost down therei once gave $10 US to a begger, i later found out thats like a years salary
2/24/2008 12:26:34 AM
its funny cause they always ask for just the us bills. never the coinsso somehow in other countries the usd always converts evenly. yea right you fuckin mexican!!11
2/24/2008 12:29:57 AM

5/9/2008 10:17:18 AM

5/9/2008 10:23:54 AM
^^we'll be doing a day trip to the andes, wine country, and the coast, but im going to for a business school class, so we'll mainly be visiting local companies in the area and learning about their strategies.ill have some free time, but not enough to go on extended trips away from santiago.
5/9/2008 10:28:40 AM
we bought some amazing wines from tierra y fuego (IIRC)...i can't remember how close that is to santiago, though
5/9/2008 10:29:31 AM
you said you went last year around this time.....did it get cold enough to need a jacket?id rather not take up the space to bring one.i looked at temp data but it looks like it can be all over the place this time of year.[Edited on May 9, 2008 at 10:38 AM. Reason : d]

^^ we were largely in pucon (near concepcion, a bit south of santiago) for most of it...i never donned pants (just shorts), but i brought a wind breaker/rain jacket since the andes are a rain forest and it got a bit coolyou shouldn't need anything heavy, just something to keep the wind at bay on cooler mornings and evenings
5/9/2008 10:51:44 AM
jealous!
5/9/2008 10:58:57 AM
and try a pisco sour!i love that stuff...brought back a bottle, though i bought it before i found out i could have gotten it cheaper in the tax-free stores
5/9/2008 11:02:47 AM
cool...i read about that drink.i saw a Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern about a month ago when he was in chile. i cant wait to try some of the food.
5/9/2008 11:03:54 AM

5/9/2008 11:05:57 AM
I'm going in October.
5/9/2008 11:06:01 AM
^^^ yeah, depending where you get it made, try to ignore the egg whites (it's good, though, i swear!) ^^ haha, yes...'twas a bit messy, but good^ it's a gorgeous country...i'm much more of a nature nut than a city tourist, but both were really awesome...i've never been to the pacific northwest, but i understand that chile is very similar
5/9/2008 11:10:36 AM
speaking of chile...i just saw this. maybe old, i dont know.
5/9/2008 11:11:09 AM

5/9/2008 11:28:03 AM
5/9/2008 11:29:55 AM
these look like crap because i'm pulling them from facebook...nothing spectacular, but andes pics are towards the bottomhorses are free-roaming on the coast...in fact, all around concepcion (including the highways)this is where we stayed for the latter part of our trip
5/9/2008 11:38:28 AM
nice pictures.did you bring any wine back with you? if i find something i really like, i may try to get some cases mailed back home. [Edited on May 9, 2008 at 11:52 AM. Reason : d]
5/9/2008 11:51:49 AM
i did indeed bring back wine...4 bottles of red, 3 whites, and a bottle of piscoi just made sure my bag was light enough to not have to pay extra, and then wrapped them in my clothes and brought them back in my checked bag[Edited on May 9, 2008 at 12:39 PM. Reason : .]
