He was an extremely skilled science fiction writer who helped to popularize and spread the idea of a space elevator, along with writing all kinds of great stories.

He wrote the story behind 2001 a Space Odyssey and wrote that whole series of books, I believe.

i tried to go to sleep watching 2001 the other night but between the monkeys, high pitched noises, and all sorts of ship alarms it was impossible

which is weird because the rest of the movie was 2 hours of silence

well... all that was Kubrick's vision, not Clarke's.

my dad said he saw the movie in the theater when it came out, and that fully half the people had walked out by the first 30 minutes, and only half of those left stuck through it to the end. He grew up in Pittsburgh... I guess they didn't get into all that trippy hippy shit there.



Arthur C. Clarke was awesome man. what a full life. if my life has only a significant fraction of the importance as his did, ill be doin alright.

People who expect all great books to be great movies are fools. If you really love a certain book you probably shouldn't watch the movie.

you know, Clarke and Kubrick worked on the book and movie at the same time, and with each other.

it wasn't like Kubrick just made a movie from a book. he didn't ruin anything.

2001 was an excellent movie.

Yeah pretty much.
which is why if i can help it, i'll read the book before i see the movie. I hate seeing actors in my head as certain characters. There are also books that i hope never get made into movies for the same reason.

I also agree with the above two statements, i loved 2001
