I was making some caramel sauce one day and the sugar got a little too burned. So I was like "hell sugar's cheap, I'll just throw this out" so I poured it down the sink. Like 2 minutes later when a 1/8 inch film of canded sugar formed over all the dishes that were in the sink I realized I may have made a mistake.

The garbage disposal no longer worked for one thing.


Somehow it started working again a few months later though.

I think they were banned because of some premise about people putting the wrong stuff down in them and clogging up the drains.

Either way, they are officially banned. If you already own one, keep that thing in good working condition because you won't be able to replace it legally.
