I guess this sign infront of foodlion means yea lady come and park your SUV right infront of the door, go in for an hour and come back with a cart full of groceries and then leave.

i bout got ran over by someone parking in the fire lane...made me
4/13/2008 9:54:45 PM
my dad is a batallion chief at a fire department and he can give tickets for this kind of behavior.
4/13/2008 9:54:49 PM
yesterday at the teeter six cars in a row did this and it backed up so far it was hard to make a left coming in the parking lot and for two way traffic to get through.
4/13/2008 9:55:55 PM
tell him to hang out at foodlion for a while
4/13/2008 9:56:04 PM
the only time i do this is at harris teeter when im returning a redbox movie

4/13/2008 9:57:18 PM
Damn, the cops must have gotten lazy about writing tickets for this. It used to be pretty unusual to see assholes pulling that.[Edited on April 13, 2008 at 9:58 PM. Reason : un]

So is it wrong of someone to 'accidentally' back up and dent/scratch a car that does this or blatantly takes up two spaces in a packed parking lot?
4/13/2008 9:58:38 PM
^^ not around nc state, it doesnt matter what time of the day I've been during the last 7 years, i've always seen at least one car or two in the fire lane and its even worse at night despite spots right near the door being open.[Edited on April 13, 2008 at 10:00 PM. Reason : .]

One day I went to the food lion on western and there were two firefighters standing outside for some sort of fund raiser. A guy pulls up right in front of them in the fire land, parks and gets out. They look at him like, "are you seriously going to do that right in front of us?" The guy apparently had no idea he was doing anything wrong until they told him to get back in his car and park it correctly.

probably already been stated, but i'm not reading all this shit...by some people's logic, it's okay to park in fire lanes, handicapped spots, middle of the street, etc. as long as you put on your hazard lights. (see: cates avenue)
4/13/2008 10:34:59 PM
Seems like it would be the easiest "pricey" ticket to write and very hard to get out of, yet I have never seen any come through when i worked at the courthouse or heard of anyone ever getting one.
4/13/2008 10:38:46 PM
if you will be UNDER 3 minutes (not roughly 3 or so) with whatever you're doing, I dont see how this is a big deal. I dont do it regularly, but if I'm getting only 1 item and there are no close spots then idc if this bothers youalso not a big deal if you are sitting in the car waiting on someone, it's not like you couldnt move if there were an emergency
4/13/2008 10:39:32 PM

Another thing that urks me, is when people use other people's handicap tags.
4/13/2008 10:42:59 PM
just like how some people think its ok to rush somewhere like to a hospital to see someone in the emergency room as long as you have your flashers on and honk your horn.as a volunteer fire fighter, im allowed to have a red light or white to use in responses. but there are strict rules on it. if im not allowed to intimidate or break any type of law while responding to an emergency.no one is exempt from parking laws no matter the case.im sure the cop will let it go but its still a law you broke.STOP DOING IT. IT CLOGS THE ROAD, CREATES A HIGHER CHANCE FOR INCIDENT AND IS AGAINST THE LAW^thats a big pet peeve of mineif the person in the car isnt handicapped, passenger or driver, then you dont get to use it[Edited on April 13, 2008 at 10:44 PM. I just love when people think that rules don't apply to themThere is a woman in my physics class that brags about how she gets to park in handicap spots cause she uses her daughters tag. I'm working up the nerve to say something, but I'm not as bad ass as I want to be yet.[Edited on April 13, 2008 at 10:47 PM. Reason : ]

I'm really suprised a grocery store hasn't put in a drive through for customers who want like 1 or 2 items like many large gas stations in some places have done.
4/13/2008 10:48:13 PM
i hate when people park the wrong way in angled spots (not illegal) and drive the wrong way in parking lots.pet peeve of mine.
4/13/2008 10:48:14 PM
FRIGGIN AGREED!!
4/13/2008 10:49:04 PM
I mean I agree that it would be much easier if I could just park in the fire lane when I want to run into the grocery store and just get one thing. That's why I HATE wal-mart. It's impossible to just run in for one thing, there is never a open spot near the door. But hey, I not above the rules, I go and find a spot and park correctly within the lines and then go in and get my one item.
4/13/2008 10:52:40 PM
You guys know that there is nothing stopping you guys from actually saying something to the face of the people who do this, right? But, yeh, it's probably easier and less awkward to just post on here that you don't like it when people do this. Grow a set
4/13/2008 11:04:54 PM
yes. how about the faggot that does this and parks RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE GROCERY PICK UP AREA. You know, so no one else can go into the fucker who did the "on-line shopping." Thanks, assfuck. I had to wait an extra 20 minutes because you are too fucking lazy to get a normal parking spot like everyone else, and the dumb bitch inside the store wouldn't let me get my shit unless I was in the spot there.
4/13/2008 11:05:12 PM
^^I already said I'm not as bad ass as I want to be yet. Gee simmer down!Besides social norms have told us to not call out people that we don't know. And since we are the same people that follow parking lot rules we also follow the social norm rules. Therefore we remain passive agressive until we eventually place a bomb under the cars of those people who fuck up.

The people at Food Lion should come on the loud speaker and say "To the person parked in the fire lane, please move your vehicle."
4/13/2008 11:21:52 PM
^i would do that occasionally at winn-dixie
4/13/2008 11:22:28 PM
I'd just say "to te person parked in the fire-lane: The tow truck is on its way."
4/13/2008 11:24:31 PM
You mostly see this in college areas and ghettos. It is pretty disgusting. And it shames me that college kids are that fucking lazy. The Avent Ferry Food Lion is the worst, but the Jones Franklin Harris Teeter is pretty bad too.[Edited on April 13, 2008 at 11:54 PM. Reason : l]

i agree, i go to avent ferry foodlionim going to start wearing my departmental shirt and walk up to people and probably mention something to the manager that those cars need to be moved. and that the store needs to enforce itshit, in a report from the department, if their are cars in the way of a fire lane. the insurance company may investigate to say, if the car was not there, more could have been savedbut i feel like regulating
4/14/2008 12:01:32 AM

This thread is relevant to my interests. Stores should get those fuckers towed.
4/14/2008 12:24:23 AM
i guess it depends on the situation but why should u get to be an exception to the rule.even if ur in the car and could pull away while u wait for someone whose only taking a few minutes, what if everyone did it. thats the point, it could cause problems.they dont make laws and regulations because its most likely going ot happen.if there is a slight chance or any chance that there could be a problem, then they make the rule.doesnt mean u get to break it even if it doesnt seem like a problem to you
4/14/2008 12:52:37 AM
It's a sign of laziness among other things. If you're too damn lazy to park your car like the rest of the civilized people then you're probably fucking up in just about everything else you do.
4/14/2008 1:12:12 AM
^racist
4/14/2008 1:16:05 AM
I think a lot of the problem is that many people think oh this is gonna take a minute, but rarely does anything in a grocery store happen that fast. Usually there is a line at the express checkout or the auto checkout. (This is what conveince stores are for, but I agree many of them have equally long lines). Then you get the people (a lot during the day) who just park there to get the monthly shopping done. At night there is only one line or just auto machines, which makes the parking in the fire zone longer.[Edited on April 14, 2008 at 1:19 AM. Reason : .]
