My roommate claims that some black girls can only grow hair that is like 3 or 4 inches long. Then it just stops growing and there is nothing they can do about it. He also says this is why weaves are so popular. I feel like this is the dumbest thing I have ever heard but I could be wrong. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

straighteners and chemicals cause hair to break off. if you don't keep it moisturized and healthy, of course it won't grow far, because it'll just break off on the ends.

Well Afro American hair is naturally really dry, which makes it prone to breakage! That's why we keep it all greased up

As it was said earlier, the addition of chemicals and relaxers only makes this worse, so the hair tends to break off at a certain point. People's hair grows at different rates too. It may take someone a lot longer to grow those 2-3 inches, where as another person will have that grown in like 2 months.

carrot oil and coconut oil work awesome... i used to have hair almost down to my ass, highlighted it all the time, blow-dried and flat-ironed it every single day, and hardly ever had breakage or split ends.

Pink Oil makes it so shiny and soft and voluminous and really easy to work with...
