I propose that we organize something here.I know this will possibly get moved to soapbox. But I put it in here to get as much exposure as possible. I propose that everyone not get gas on tuesdays. Now, if you need to make an extra effort and get gas late monday or whatever, that would work in my plan.I know lots of people couldn't do this because of their line of work...fine. I know my plan would likely not cause people to spend less on gas per week.BUT WE MUST SEND A MESSAGE TO THE OIL/GAS COMPANIESI mean we're kind of helpless since we all so desperately need gas. My plan doesn't require you to walk to work or buy some special car. If we don't stand together somehow on this issue, we're just going to keep getting worked over. The oil companies don't give a s*&^ about us. We must hit them below the belt somehow. If this catches, I would like to get t-shirts made. How sweet would it be to drive by the gas stations on tuesday and see them empty. P.S.I'm not a noob. I've been around since like 03 or something. I just don't post much on here. Please post your thoughts and ideas. thanks

they don't care... right now gas is like stock... if you hold on to it ... you'll probably get 5-10% back on the year
4/23/2008 7:37:45 PM
I think looking at how our government is involved in the Oil Market would be a good start
4/23/2008 7:38:11 PM
i'd like to make a huge bowel movement on this movement[Edited on April 23, 2008 at 7:40 PM. Reason : oh lounge fuck it]
4/23/2008 7:38:47 PM
4/23/2008 7:45:34 PM
isn't there always a group started every year like this via email fwd's, facebook groups, myspace whatever?because so far they have been working out great........for the oil companies
4/23/2008 7:48:49 PM
Jesus Christ are you serious? That is the stupidest idea I have ever heard in my life. Nobody is going to do it, and even if it did take off who gives a shit? I'd just give everyone a day off on Tuesday if I owned a gas station. What bothers me most here is you probably have a college degree from NCSU and you are saying these things. It makes me feel like my degree means even less than I previously thought.
4/23/2008 8:08:19 PM
You must have gotten one of those "OMG DONT BUY GAS ON TUESDAY!!!!" emailsfucking idiot.
4/23/2008 8:10:08 PM
You're not a n00b, but you are an idiot.
4/23/2008 8:19:53 PM
how about something that really makes a differencebring your own reusable bags to the grocery storeits cheap, its easy & it dramatically decreases the number of plastic bags a single person usesor just refuse bags when you don't need them
4/23/2008 8:21:04 PM
This thread is full of fail.
4/23/2008 8:41:49 PM
wasn't there a chain email to this effect that failed miserably as well...

4/23/2008 9:04:10 PM
I'm totally not gonna get any gas tomorrowUnless my gas light comes on
4/23/2008 9:07:06 PM

4/23/2008 9:26:40 PM
this must be some sort of joke thread
4/23/2008 9:31:58 PM
the thing to do is go and attack two of the bigger companies - say Exxon and Texaco for instanceband together a movement where everyone avoids these 2 gas companies all at once - then they will lose all business and be forced to drop their prices significantlyother stations will then lose business and drop their prices to match these new low Exxon and Texaco pricesnot sure if it will work, but it's the best idea I've heard so far
4/23/2008 9:54:53 PM
4/23/2008 9:59:23 PM
WOW people are stupid. Gas prices are set by commodities traders, NOT oil companies. People get spooked for whatever reason about gas supply and the prices go up. Butterfly farts? Gas prices go up. ANYTHING happens...gas prices go up.It is NOT the oil companies. If you want someone to blame, blame the spooked traders on the floor of the New York Mercantile Exchange.I don't understand why Congress had an investigation into the price of gas and called in executives from the major players...they don't set prices.
4/23/2008 10:17:03 PM
uhhhbecause 99% of america thinks they doand thereby, think congress is doing them a favor by parading them in front of panels for questioning
4/23/2008 10:19:07 PM
I thought for sure killpups was a girl after reading that, nope
4/23/2008 10:25:26 PM
you were right about moved but not to soap box
4/23/2008 11:11:43 PM
you newbies are getting mega mindfucked. this kid predicted bin laden taking down the twin towers with comercial airplanes in a thread dated in 2000omfgalso, there are stations in my town where you really cant get gas on tuesdays, just because the store owners cant afford to fill their big tanks every time they empty out. we could argue this shit for months without ever coming up with anything. which is probably what kiljadn is laughing at right now]
4/23/2008 11:17:15 PM
I'm gonna go start a huge movement right now
4/23/2008 11:20:37 PM
Think of the calamity when the gas stations are out of fuel on tuesday! All those people that filled their tanks late on monday will certainly be pissed that they cant get gas early tuesday morning!
4/23/2008 11:20:46 PM
Top center; is that superchevy???
4/23/2008 11:24:05 PM
4/23/2008 11:27:15 PM
OH GOD IM SORRYi thought kiljadn made this thread. thats the only reason i gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was pulling a master troll.never mind this guy, flame on
4/23/2008 11:28:31 PM
keep fighting the good fight!
4/24/2008 6:28:15 PM
EPIC
4/24/2008 6:31:36 PM
Oh, I thought this thread was about your constipation.
4/24/2008 7:54:07 PM
well this went as predicted1) I hate chain emails. I can honestly say I've never read an entire chain email. I most definitely have never obeyed one. 2) I didn't say this would lower gas prices all at once. I'm just trying to think of a way for lots and lots of people to get on the same page. See right now....we're fucked. We must do something. We cannot rely on the gov't.I really like the idea that one person brought up about just boy cotting the big gas companies.Thats brilliant. Ok if we can turn this into an actual productive thread....that would be awesome. Please post ideas. Thanks
4/25/2008 12:42:07 AM
you want a solution?Buy a hybrid, buy an electric car, use public transportation, ride a bike on all trips to nearby places.DO THINGS THAT LESSEN YOUR OVERALL CONSUMPTION OF GAS, BECAUSE THIS "LET'S BOYCOTT EXXON ON THURSDAY" SHIT JUST RESULTS IN THEM MAKING THEIR MONEY WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY.YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT NEEDING A SOLUTION AND THEN OFFER COMPLETELY USELESS AND UNPRODUCTIVE IDEAS FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEM.
4/25/2008 1:14:13 AM
So, people get upset if someone tries to come up with an idea to get back at the gas companies......Hybrid cars don't save you any money until after you own them for about 10 years.Public transportation is very shitty. Not that I wouldn't consider it. I just don't think its going to help. I mean those buses take huge amounts of gas. So I don't think the benefit is all that great. If anyone would actually stop and think for two seconds. If everyone got used to not using gas on tuesdays, we might actually start finding ways to save gas by default. After you consistently stop using gas on 1 day a week, you could start working on two days a week.I mean its just a thought. It doesn't cost any money. Just a little planning. Bio fuel is killing the food market prices. So thats a farse. Synthetic Bio fuel is one hope. But the folks that are making that stuff over in germany are keeping their technology so secret that we may not see it here in the states for a while. So now lets come up with a slogan."Screw gas tuesday"please come up with a better one than minethanks

I cant wait until I'm able to work from home. I think after 12 hour days for 4 months they ought to see that I can get my ass out of bed consistently and would from home..and would be a lot happier.Oh well at least I get to bring my dog to work

[obligatory "in my pants" comment]
4/25/2008 8:45:15 AM
This would in no way force the oil companies to do anything. You know why? They know you'll be in line on Wednesday morning.Just because you don't get gas on Tuesday DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL END UP USING LESS GAS THEREFORE SENDING A SIGNALYou still consume the same amount. For any college high school educated person who actually believes this to be true... I really feel sorry for your future.Besides, the oil companies make, on average, $0.105 profit on the dollar... 10.5% is a strong but not obscene profit margin.Oh btw, I got the same facebook group invite. I declined the invite. You know what? BECAUSE IT'S A RETARDED IDEA.[Edited on April 25, 2008 at 8:49 AM. Reason : .]

gas prices has not even hit a peak to slow americans down. sure, we gripe and complain when we fill up at $4.00 a gallon, but we are still filling up. i don't think you will see a 'huge movement' until prices get to a point that cannot be handled by the public. wait until prices hit $6.00, $7.00, $10.00 a gallon. only at that point will you see employers urge employees to work from home, rural communities move closer to the cities, four 10 hour work weeks vs. five 8 hour, and dropping the gas guzzlers that we drive now. of course, this is all my opinion which is subject to argument and discussion.
4/25/2008 9:31:44 AM
Old pic, but you get the idea...
