Aww... was hoping for a TWW blog rant about someone having gotten fired.
5/8/2008 11:21:21 AM
Why do you think I titled it the way I did
5/8/2008 11:21:37 AM
If she stole something, then there is no reason she can complain. I understand your sentiments, but if there is a book to go by, and someone goes by the book, I got one word for you: Sorry.
5/8/2008 11:22:36 AM
I never said she didn't steal. I just mentioned common sense Common sense says you don't alienate a regular, paying customer by punishing an employee who does something kind for your kid, for sixteen cents. It probably would have cost more in labor costs for the employee to ring up the timbit. For sure, if it were a separate transaction, and possibly even if it were lumped into the mom's normal transaction[Edited on May 8, 2008 at 11:25 AM. Reason : lfkdj]

expecting the manager of a donut shop to have the best judgment, in Canada or elsewhere, is a mistake.
5/8/2008 11:25:09 AM
Well, their donuts taste like crap anyway.
5/8/2008 11:26:39 AM
Or Lebanese deli for that matter.
5/8/2008 11:26:45 AM
god i love Tim Hortons.
5/8/2008 11:27:08 AM
I am inclined to believe stealing was the reason given but she was probably doing other stuff to piss the manager off/make her dispensable. Even morons don't fire good employees for little bullshit unless there is more to the story.

Corporate managers are idiots anyway (no idea about franchise managers). You should see their qualifications. I am a consultant (troubleshooter) for a few corporations and when you see someone of these idiots in middle/upper management, I wonder how they gather the brain power to get dressed in the morning. It wasn't so much of a problem in the past, but now that the economy seems to be tanking, lots of employees down the line are feeling the heat from their middle managers who are trying to cut costs everywhere (in addition to increasing their customer service/average ticket - if that makes any sense). The tim hortons / wendy's merger was a bad idea, but things have gotten worse as of late.[Edited on May 8, 2008 at 11:37 AM. Giving a ball of processed sugar to an 11 month old shows this woman had an IQ of about 60. She should be fired.

I thought the firing was going to be about the donut hole being a choke hazard for an 11-month old or something

they should unionize...
5/8/2008 1:17:58 PM
5/8/2008 1:26:55 PM
and my boss should know that if he fires me for something as frivolous as this, i'm going to drag his ass out on the street and beat his ass. He shouldn't get pissed about it, cause if you know, you know.
5/8/2008 1:39:55 PM
Hey, as long as you disclose that before you get fired then its all good

^ I think you can get unemployment as long as you don't quit a job, if I am not mistaken. Even though you got fired, that still doesn't mean that you didn't work like you should have, and did your job, and doesn't deserve some help until you find employment.
5/8/2008 1:50:24 PM
Sounds good, but untrue. There are a ton of circumstances that will disqualify you from collecting unemployment. Stealing is definitely one of them. Employers don't want their Unemployment Insurance premium to rise. [Edited on May 8, 2008 at 1:53 PM. Reason : d]

I liked the story about the chick with big boobs being fired from her teaching position better.

^^She has been approached by Playboy and has been asked to appear to the tune of $25,000 per picture.Everything has worked out okay for her, I guess. I don't think she'd get unemployment either.[Edited on May 8, 2008 at 1:56 PM. Reason : j]
