place was voted best place to pick up people in Raleigh... speaks volumes... both on the quality of people at HT, and the shittiness of Raleigh clubs/bars
5/14/2008 2:29:28 PM
^^ People say that about a store in Charlotte: Morocroft. It's pretty ridiculous. [Edited on May 14, 2008 at 2:30 PM. Reason : ]
5/14/2008 2:30:24 PM
^^the only folks who complain about that sort of thing are the ones who have a hard time picking up people.
5/14/2008 2:31:27 PM
or the ones who feel going to bars is a good place to pick up people
5/14/2008 2:53:01 PM
^^ you are saying the only people that can complain about a club being shitty are people who cant pick up people? Thats the dumbest shit I have ever heard. Judging if a club sucks or not has nothing to do with picking up people... so married people cant have any opinions about a club? couples that go to a club cant have an opinion about it? awesome logic man! Were you born on a fucking farm or something?People who arent little horn ball tools can actually look at a club beyond "garsh! can I get some ass here tonight? thats all that matters"[Edited on May 14, 2008 at 3:02 PM. 5/14/2008 2:58:24 PM
you labeled all of raleigh's clubs/bars as being shitty.there's a difference, lunchbox.
5/14/2008 3:03:09 PM
for a city its size with a major university right in the middle they do suck ass
5/14/2008 3:04:34 PM
first offclubs?
5/14/2008 3:05:11 PM
they are places where people 18-40 typically go to be social... its not a hard concept
5/14/2008 3:07:56 PM
maybe it's a generational thing, but when i hear "clubs" i think of loud music, djs and people trying to look richand not many people on the high end of your age rangebars however, that's a wonderful thing
5/14/2008 3:10:21 PM
i think what he was implying was that there aren't many "clubs" in raleigh and that there are, in fact, more bars where people go to entertain themselves with the social nightlife. As for the city of its size comment, Raleigh isn't a big city by any means and a large portion of raleigh is far removed from the downtown scene. We are just now really building a downtown living environment. The quality and number is good, but variety is what is lacking.
5/14/2008 3:12:45 PM
I think its more of a Raleigh thing... everyone was into clubs in Nashville when I lived there, in DC, in Knoxville, but then Raleigh was all about bars, but now in Atlanta, its clubs... and it can be somewhat loud music, depends on the club, same thing with the "looking rich", depends on the club^ Raleigh has a metro area > million, thats plenty big... fucking Knoxville is TINY compare to Raleigh and it had several great clubs, same thing with Nashville (which might actually be bigger than Raleigh now, but wasnt when I lived there). I think its not so much size but more what you mentioned about the layout and fabric of the city... very suburban oriented [Edited on May 14, 2008 at 3:15 PM. Reason : f]
5/14/2008 3:13:36 PM
and perhaps i live too close to south jersey
5/14/2008 3:14:28 PM
clubs are awesome! If you want to hang out with winners!
5/14/2008 3:16:23 PM
yeah, thats what every single club looks like...thats like saying every single bar looks like Moe's
5/14/2008 3:17:28 PM
^i'm going to say you're flat out wrong. i don't care to look, but i'd venture to say raleigh metro is < 1million, not greater. i know the city itself is around 400k, so i'd venture the entire area is 800k- 900k. However, it appears you still missed my point. Most of the people in this metro area (an additional 400 - 500k) are far removed from the downtown scene and that plays a large impact. Even those in North Raleigh are highly removed, but maintain easier accessibility to what downtown has to offer.
5/14/2008 3:19:54 PM
did you not see this:
5/14/2008 3:20:52 PM
i'm with Jaybee1200 on this onei don't base how good/ shitty the bars are on how many/ quality of women......either the bar is good, or it sucksand my opinion on these bars has not changed while i've been single, married, divorced, looking, horny, or what have youmy new favorite bar is a sports bar, which is usually 95% dudes, and i'm a single and straight
5/14/2008 3:21:58 PM
^ exactly.maybe when i was 17-19 and drooled on myself at the mention of "titties" then that was the most important thing... but most people get over it
5/14/2008 3:23:06 PM
i did miss that part actually, because i got hooked up on the numbers, sorry. Also, i don't consider durham as part of raleigh metro since its in a different county. I consider Raleigh, Cary, Morrisville, other places in wake as Raleigh-metro.Coming from the same thing you quoted, that was talking about the CSA, which is different than the Metro area, fwiw.
5/14/2008 3:25:45 PM
club music/dance music is pretty effeminate
5/14/2008 3:26:12 PM
I would include Apex at least... which would push it over a million... either way, its right there at a million which is a LOT bigger than many other cities I have been in that have had a lot of great clubs
5/14/2008 3:27:30 PM
I was there once buying some bathroom stuff and was standing there with a basket full of deodorant (I usually buy in bulk just for convenience down the road) when some guy walks up and asks me if I'm going on a trip. I say no, I just hate going to the store. Then we exchanged really awkward small talk before I ran away. Something similar happened when I was buying shampoo at Target.Shit like that happens to me all the time. YOU ARE A GUY. I DO NOT WANT TO MEET YOU AND EXCHANGE SMALL TALK.
5/14/2008 3:27:37 PM
so... where did you get those pants? are they comfy?
5/14/2008 3:29:18 PM
those are gays trying to pick you up
5/14/2008 3:31:38 PM
buying deodorant at a club seems weird.
5/14/2008 3:32:45 PM
The worst is the geeky kids at Barnes & Noble who assume that you are a nerdy scifi guy as well (even though you're in the automotive/aviation/travel section carrying a Bukowski book) and try to strike up a conversation. IF I WAS STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL I WOULD KICK YOUR ASS. FUCKING DECORUM.
5/14/2008 3:33:16 PM
for the record that MSA includes all of wake, of which apex is a member. its called raleigh-cary MSA because they each have their independent smaller factions around them.
5/14/2008 3:33:54 PM
god dammit man, its 6k away... so its a million
5/14/2008 3:35:10 PM
but not > 1 millioni'm just bored and being a douche, pay me no mind[Edited on May 14, 2008 at 3:36 PM. Reason : < 1million]
5/14/2008 3:36:11 PM
ok, assuming that data is up to date as of today, which it isnt, in 3 weeks it will be over a million, so if during that time 4+ good clubs pop up I will shut up
5/14/2008 3:38:52 PM
i go to Cost Cutters to pick up[ bitchesand if they're closedi go to Roses
5/14/2008 3:40:24 PM
a club is a club is a bar...they are all the same as far as I'm concerned, I'm just trying to get drunk and have a good time. I can't really say that any bar or club is any better than any other really, I mean some are bigger than others, have more girls, better music maybe, but overall they are the same.go ahead and flame
5/14/2008 3:46:10 PM
