Does anyone know if there are practice tests and if they are where I could find them?I looked on the NC DOT website but I didn't seem to find anything that say anything about it, but I didn't know if I was looking in the wrong place.

Bus driver and actually I just found one...I hope the tests are this easy...the only part I'm a little concerned about it the air brakes...

Go to the DMV. They usually will give you a book to study for the CDL and maybe something to study for the bus endorsement.

My dad took it a few years ago and it must be really easy since he passed.

^^Yeah I've already gotten the manual, and I've studied it for about 2 weeks now...I'm going tomorrow to take the test...I was just looking for a "practice" test to see if I knew what I was supposed to know for the general knowledge, passenger transport, and air break tests. If anyone has gotten a CDL can you tell me if you have to name the parts of the bus on the general knowledge tests or will I just have to do that for the skills test?

The general knowledge test is the mutiple choice test I'll take to get my permit. My mom is a school bus driver and she went through a different process than me because I'm just going to get an endorcement to transport passengers. The skills test is when you actually go out with the instructor and do the inspection and driving test...I'm assuming I won't have to name the parts of the bus until I do the driving part of the test...can that be confirmed by anyone else?

When you take the driving test you have to open the hood and name the parts. My boss labeled all the parts before I went so I just read the labels out. The guy didnt even notice I was reading off labels.

Okay good.I feel pretty confident about the written part of the test...I have to take the general knowledge test, passenger transport test, and air break test.I am pretty sure I'm not going to get the school bus endorsement because I'm not driving a school bus, I am driving an activity bus. This is confusing, I'm going to be pissed if I go in tomorrow and I'm missing out on things. I've called and asked all the questions I thought I've needed to ask, but sometimes I don't know the right questions to ask.

after seeing what you did to your car, i'd hate to see the damage you could do with a bus [Edited on May 22, 2008 at 12:51 AM. Reason : d]

I have a class b CDL with passenger endorsement. The tests were easy for me but I work on large vehicles, so the brakes were not a problem. The book that DMV gives you to study from covers everything though. If you know what's in that book, you will pass the test. The book is split into sections, the ones you will need for driving a bus are: general knowledge, air brakes and passenger. You will take 3 separate tests on the computer at DMV. They are the same no matter what sort of bus you will be driving. Also, when you are doing the driving test, the tester will ask you to tell him the height of an underpass or the posted speed limit after you have passed a sign so pay attention. (underpasses over a certain height-16 feet I think- are not marked.)[Edited on May 22, 2008 at 12:59 AM. Reason : v]
