how can people make it through college and not know basic stuff about genetics

baldness is an X-linked trait. that means the locus for the trait is on the x chromosome. its a recessive trait. women go bald much more rarely than men because they would need a copy of the 'bald' allele on both of their X chromosomes. men only have one X chromosome, so if they inherit an x chromosome with a copy of the bald allele they will go bald.
