So I was riding the bus home from class, and an accident had all of outbound western blvd. closed at the beltline. The driver sat there for like 15 min, and I asked him if I could get off the bus and walk. driver: "no, you may not get off the bus. what happens if you don't make it to your destination? Those people there could snatch you." ["those people" were police and first responders]me: "but we're like half a mile from the park and ride"driver: "I am not going to lose my job!"me: *carlface* "can I please just get off? There's a sidewalk right there."driver: "no. you will get hit by traffic"me: *carlfaceagain*So, if you cause a disturbance on the bus, the bus driver can make you get off the bus then and there. However, if you are stuck in traffic, you can't get off the bus at all. Fucking retarded.

the driver of any vehicle must let passengers out at their behest
5/28/2008 3:13:11 PM
what does a carlface look like?
5/28/2008 3:13:13 PM
you should have caused a disturbance
5/28/2008 3:13:53 PM
yea thats bullshit, I would have been fucking pissed

open the window and yell halp i'm being kidnapped by the driver!
5/28/2008 3:15:58 PM
i wish i coulda been on the bus to see it...i would have laughed
5/28/2008 3:17:04 PM
yeah thats WHACK. I got on the wolfline #3 not knowing that it was an express bus, so the bus driver wouldnt let me out at Jordan Hall at the top of Morrill even though we stopped for 3 mins at the red light, made me late for class n shit.
5/28/2008 3:20:56 PM
but seriously, when did I become 5 years old again? I think I'm observant enough to cross traffic (that was gridlocked, no less) and walk half a mile by myself. Why is it his responsibility if I "reach my destination"?[Edited on May 28, 2008 at 3:27 PM. Reason : ]
5/28/2008 3:21:39 PM
you act surprised like he was supposed to let you off or something
5/28/2008 3:29:45 PM
LAWS OF WOLFLINE
5/28/2008 3:32:33 PM
you could have pulled the emergency release handle to open the door. or gone out the emergency exit on top of the bus. or out an emergency exit window. or some other form of emergency escape
5/28/2008 3:40:43 PM
THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!!
5/28/2008 3:43:19 PM
If it's a wolfline bus that has the exit in the middle of the right side of the bus, I think you can just push those doors open. They should be designed that way so people can escape in an emergency, I'd think. At that point the guy can't chase you down and get you back on his bus, lol.
5/28/2008 3:56:05 PM
paging jackleg, what's the term for this? It would be the same, as if he held him in a room against his will.
5/28/2008 4:04:45 PM
sounds like you were told what to do. if it was that much of a carlface why not exit the bus on your own free will. that will show him you are not a 5 year old, or maybe just a ill-behaved one.
5/28/2008 4:07:12 PM
TenaciousC = bitch
5/28/2008 4:08:36 PM
^^^False imprisonment.I don't think that really applies in this situation. I'm sure he has some rules and regulations he has to follow. And although you might have been held against your will, you get on the bus knowing that you are only suppose to get off at certain stops unless its an emergency. So legally you have no cause of action.[Edited on May 28, 2008 at 4:10 PM. Reason : .]
5/28/2008 4:09:50 PM
this is why they make emergency exits
5/28/2008 4:12:22 PM
You should have lit a cigarette. I did that on a light rail train last year and they had to open the doors. We were stuck on the track for over 1/2 hour and everyone was pissed.

5/28/2008 4:32:26 PM
^^I'll remember that today when the train gets close to my house at 50 mph on it's way to the stop 1/2 mile away.[Edited on May 28, 2008 at 4:33 PM. Reason : z]
5/28/2008 4:33:23 PM
^you would not ask to get off of a moving train howeverno one in their right mind would do so
5/28/2008 4:36:04 PM
True of course, but it's not false imprisonment if there is a reasonable means of escape.
5/28/2008 4:37:10 PM
5/28/2008 4:37:43 PM
False, its correct imprisonment.
5/28/2008 4:38:27 PM
