Obviously, when referring to individuals this word can be offensive. Would you consider the word "ghetto" offensive when referring to an object? For example, if something fell of my bike and I used duct tape to put it back on instead of getting it fixed properly and I called that ghetto. Or if a button fell of my phone and I glued it back on
6/4/2008 8:24:52 AM
its only offensive to pussiesstop being a pussy
6/4/2008 8:25:46 AM
it's the least offensive one of the terms combined with ...-rigged
6/4/2008 8:26:54 AM
^haha that was my first thought!!!He ******-rigged that shit!
6/4/2008 8:34:20 AM

6/4/2008 8:35:16 AM
afro-engineered.
6/4/2008 8:44:41 AM
6/4/2008 8:53:16 AM
^^^^ nigger... there i said itno more need for ******
6/4/2008 8:55:40 AM
I believe the problem is that..... blacks are assuming the word applies to them...... and get offended
6/4/2008 8:55:55 AM
well i guess it their fault for assuming that isn't it
6/4/2008 8:58:13 AM
I'm sure it's difficult to explain the origins of the term "ghetto" on the business end of a glock.
6/4/2008 9:00:23 AM
if you're white you're supposed to say the ducktape on your bike is "redneck"
6/4/2008 10:13:17 AM
Thanks!I don't like saying the word at all, so for me it's ****** and shit
6/4/2008 10:17:37 AM
^^what do you say if you're not in the south?
6/4/2008 10:21:40 AM
if you're black you say ghettoif you're white you say redneckits just how it is, or something]
6/4/2008 10:22:13 AM
man, redneck was never a part of my vocab... so i said ghetto.
6/4/2008 10:24:44 AM
^
6/4/2008 10:25:15 AM
6/4/2008 10:31:16 AM
Oh I didn't say that there weren't what the south calls rednecks. In South Jersey locals called them "Pineys" as if they lived deep in the Pinelands (a protected region of forest that covers a good portion of the bottom half of the state). We just didn't say "redneck".
6/4/2008 10:34:09 AM
O I Ccarry on then]
6/4/2008 10:36:55 AM
i say ghetto too but i'm just trying to pass on what the whites are supposed to say
6/4/2008 10:39:21 AM
I'm black and I say nigger-riggedbut I also don't say nigga every 5 seconds like some black people doso it has more of an impact when I do say it
6/4/2008 10:45:07 AM
I usually cringe when people say that. But I used to hear jury-rigged growing up. When I first got to state people were dropping n-rigged without hesitating and I was like uhhhhhhh... wha?
6/4/2008 10:50:20 AM
its jerry-riggedNot sure who the fuck jerry is, but jury-rigged refers to something else entirelyand nigger is only offensive if you refer to someone as onesaying the word in a casual context is no reason to get flustered
6/4/2008 10:52:17 AM
6/4/2008 10:54:20 AM
I stand corrected
6/4/2008 10:55:35 AM
jerry-rigged none-the-less
6/4/2008 11:14:10 AM
you say jerry-rigged none-the-less,i say jury-rigged nonetheless...
6/4/2008 11:27:07 AM
The brits called the germans the Jerries. So during the war (I'm drawing a logical connection here) calling something Jerry-Rigged likely was probably the same level of "insulting" that some of these *-rigged terms we use today are.Just a thought, I guess.[Edited on June 4, 2008 at 11:29 AM. Reason : Note, this was back in the early 20th century, I don't mean now.]
6/4/2008 11:29:37 AM
Never heard of that. Do a lot of people say "jerry-rigged"?
6/4/2008 11:32:50 AM
^My dad would use that while we were growing up.[Edited on June 4, 2008 at 11:53 AM. Reason : Eastern NC]
6/4/2008 11:53:22 AM
To me, "ghetto" means something repaired extremely cheaply, while "redneck" means something used for an entirely different purpose than what it was intended. If I saw a car that had lost one of it's side mirrors, and it was reattached with large ammounts of duct tape, I would call it "ghetto"If the same car was driving down the road and hand a handheld makeup mirror taped onto the door instead of the side mirror, I would call it "redneck"
6/4/2008 12:39:41 PM
ghetto isn't derogatory anymore. unless you are a racist.
6/4/2008 12:41:32 PM
6/5/2008 3:08:08 AM
It can be offensive. If anything, using the term "ghetto" is boring and unimaginative. Some people say it like 20 times a day, and it's like, Seriously?
6/5/2008 3:28:05 AM
I sure as fuck hope it isn't.
6/5/2008 5:07:08 AM
I say that I ghettorig stuff all the time. But I've also been called an offensive person...
6/5/2008 5:08:00 AM
Shit's ghetto.
6/7/2008 10:17:23 AM
most things I refer to as nigger-rigged or "ghetto" aren't actually of poor quality, they're the fruit of a "least effort" approach to a problem[Edited on June 7, 2008 at 10:22 AM. Reason : and sometimes the "least effort" approach yields very elegant solutions]
6/7/2008 10:21:34 AM
"lets not get ghetto here"
6/7/2008 10:26:34 AM
6/7/2008 10:27:26 AM
it's a word that's almost become as watered down and meaningless as "nazi"
6/7/2008 10:45:23 AM
its only offensive if a black person hears it.
6/7/2008 11:20:43 AM
so its not offensive
6/7/2008 11:24:30 AM
which one of these is the funniest:nigger-riggedghetto-riggedjerry-riggedpick the funniest one and use it
6/7/2008 12:19:12 PM

6/7/2008 1:36:47 PM
Avoid the term around Holocaust survivors and you should be ok.
