Fuck that, it's a good style of music. You don't have to create something completely new for it to be creative and good. If I like jazz, i shouldn't have to create a new style of jazz to make music, I have every right to use the old style with my personal take on it. If these artists were simply covering songs, you might have a point, but they aren't.

People like Joss Stone had great albums that used this sort of sound and then they catch flak for it and so their next album is some new style that they are trying and they fucking blow. Stick to the style that you are good at and fuck the people that criticize you for not being new or inventive in every single way.

i do remember when i first heard amy in a ghostface song thinking "wow thats a pretty dope old sample that somebody found to mix in with this new ghost song" and then i found out that it was actually some recent amy...i dunno...so much of the new stuff that tries to sound new is garbage too...plus amy has a really good voice imo

Elvis got famous for recycling music of others, and he's considered by many to be a music god. :-/

Personally I think Amy is very talented as a writer and can sing her ass off (when not completely drunk). All things in our culture get recycled to some degree: music, clothing, furniture, etc. Nothing here is ground-breaking information. Buying something that is "retro" or "chabby chic" doesn't mean you're too lazy to get an original chair from 1894 or a t-shirt from 1984. The same applies to music as long as it is done well.
