they're also tough as nails and can carry a shit ton of ordnance. they're also very quiet (for a jet)--they use the same engines as the Navy's S-3 Viking (the "Hoover", because it sounds like a vacuum cleaner). don't know for sure, but they prob have lots of loiter time, too (very fuel efficient engines, and probably carries a lot of fuel).from what i understand, they almost always fly with an IR Maverick--not to shoot, but to use as a poor man's FLIR (i.e., the Air Force has a love-hate relationship with the Warthog, and many have wanted to get rid of it since damn near its inception, so they couldn't get funding for a real FLIR).helluva CAS platform. i think there have been a number of friendly fire accidents with them, though (people joke about it being the #1 killer of Marines).
