Worth going to? The $8 admission seems reasonable. Also, from google maps it looks like there is about ~10 mile stretch of beach south of the aquarium:http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=north%20carolina%20aquarium%20fort%20fisher&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=ilIs that beach secluded and a nice place to take a walk with the g/f?

It's been a long time since I visited, but yeah, as I recall it would be worth $8.I just went to the aquarium in Baltimore this morning...it's badass, but $25 for admission + "dolphin show."

for 8 bucks yeah. its nothing special though.

yep its worth it. and the beach is a little rougher, less groomed. occasionally there will be some campers/dogs/four wheelers. but for the most part it is secluded. last time i was down there (2 years) they were drudging so hopefully that is finished.

yeah. its a nice area. you're welcome to walk on the beach and stuff. same with the north end (go where carolina beach is they have their own variation of that, with 4 wheel drive vehicles that can go on the sand and stuff).thats the basin that leads up to the cape fear. its a real nice area. my GF and i went kayaking there 2 weekends ago. it was awesome.^^ agreed.^when i glanced over there the other week, it seemed clear of equipment.either way there is tons of shore line between fort fisher to carolina beach that you can walk on. lotsa surfers tend to goto the carolina beach pier, the right side of it where all those boulders are[Edited on June 17, 2008 at 4:01 PM. If you like aquariums and will be in the area, yes. If you do not or would have to go out of your way to get there, no. I got to hang out there after hours and play with the horseshoe crabs a few weeks ago

Ye, go to Fort Fisher aquarium. Don't plan on getting it on on the beach though - you will be interrupted unless its night time. When they're dredging, that's the best time to find awesome sharks teeth, btw.[Edited on June 17, 2008 at 4:02 PM. Reason : ]

it's not bad, but nothing great. i guess for $8 it's pretty good

I enjoyed the aquarium when my fiance and i went. I think 8 dollars is reasonable. Just try not to expect anything like the really nice aquarium in Atlanta. The good thing about that part of the beach also is free parking! Unlike at Wrightsville...

^^ I wasn't really impressed with the aquarium in Atlanta. I mean, it's huge, but they don't really have any more interesting fish than any of the other aquariums i have been to

really enjoyed the aquarium, and the beach was nice. granted it was windy as fuck when we went there, but it was still fun non the less

It was pretty good. Worth $8.

Fort Fisher is a nice enough aquarium, but I have so much nostalgia for the ghetto pre-renovation version that I find it disappointing.

Yeah, there were a lot more fish then. Its worth it and there are some trails that lead from the aquarium that you could get it on at. Best bet is to go to the state park on the other end and hit a trail, just take a sweater or blanket and there are plenty of spots.
