an epic failure on the part of the Chinese?I think we are about to see 2 world events in the next 2 years that are going to epitomize the FAIL culture - The Communist run Olympics, and then the World Cup in South Africa in 2010.This is what made me think of this:http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/06/30/asia/china.php

non-white countries running sporting events = epic fail indeed.go back to your trailer park, b.
That's great, considering how I'm not white, you dumbshit.China lacks the infrastructure and the cultural diversity to hold a world event of this magnitude. They had to release a chart showing their people how to cheer, for fuck's sake.South Africa lacks the infrastructure - it'll just be a question of "Is FIFA going to pull the plug," which I'm sure they will once it becomes apparent that the stadiums needed to suit the influx of people they'll get wont be built in time.[Edited on June 30, 2008 at 8:10 PM. Reason : WC 2010 is probably going to be in Italy, mark my words]
6/30/2008 8:08:16 PM
I would like nothing more than to see China embarrassed on the world stage during the Olympics. For some reason I think South Africa will host a good World Cup though.
6/30/2008 8:08:49 PM
hahaha^^ racist fuck![Edited on June 30, 2008 at 8:09 PM. Reason : d]

not a xenophobic stance at all--i completely agree with Nick.
6/30/2008 8:09:43 PM
anybody else not even aware where the olympics are being held?
6/30/2008 8:10:19 PM
sometimes part of me thinks the chinese are gonna do everything possible to make it a good event
6/30/2008 8:10:46 PM

^^blacks live in trailer parks too. trailer park= uneducated people's homes, not white ppl's homes.
6/30/2008 8:12:18 PM
nice save attempttoo bad you're still wrong, g !The Chinese government is going to fuck up the Olympics because of their stranglehold over everything, not because they're ethnically Chinese.
6/30/2008 8:14:47 PM
6/30/2008 8:15:56 PM
I sort of care about the T&F events in the Olympics.Well, I did before all these Americans came out of the steroid closet. But I do care about Olympics soccer.
6/30/2008 8:18:54 PM
I heard them say that a guy beat the all time world record for running either the 50 or 100m, but they wouldn't let him hold the record because of wind! What the heck? Would wind really make that big of a difference? I've heard about the swimmers breaking a lot of records due to new suits. One woman broke a world record, and then was beat 20 minutes later![Edited on June 30, 2008 at 8:27 PM. Reason : ]

lol point bethaleigh
6/30/2008 10:06:13 PM
^^yes it does make a difference.
6/30/2008 10:27:26 PM
the Olympics are a great time for all of the corporate sponsors to look humane, "international" and healthylike McDonald's and Coca Colado you think China will jeopardize their position in the world market over something as trivial as human rights or justice?I'm sorry, the Olympics are ALREADY ruined... too little too late China
6/30/2008 10:34:38 PM
I heard they were taking upwards of 300,000 cars out of Beijing in order to improve air quality. [Edited on June 30, 2008 at 10:39 PM. Reason : not dollars]
6/30/2008 10:38:55 PM
^air quality is another reason i'm looking forward to the Olympics
6/30/2008 10:39:52 PM
I put "international" in quotes to emphasize the fact that, while global, these companies and their products are truly nothing more than an enormous bulldozer that levels everyone else's culture and establishes their franchises in its place
6/30/2008 10:43:12 PM
hey why did you put international in quotes?
6/30/2008 10:44:30 PM
the bad for china: The air quality is crap.the good for china: They can actually make people do shit like stop driving cars.try that shit in america.
6/30/2008 10:56:22 PM
All I give a shit about is judo. And, so long as Iran doesn't try to make trouble like they did in 2004, and everyone plays nice, we should be just fine. We've got a fantastic team, too. Gotay's got tons of experience, and Rousey's a second-generation badass. Looks like Lambert's staying in junior competition for one more year, though. Maybe 2012, if he doesn't decide to switch to MMA?
6/30/2008 11:44:21 PM
^ Is that the sport with the diesel looking white chick who just completely dominates everyone? If so, I saw her in the Olympic trials. She was really good.
7/1/2008 4:34:38 PM
I would love for the WC in South Africa to happen. Unfortunately, I think the plug will be pulled by this time next year. The infrastructure fears are bad enough without even considering the stadium construction issues. Also, LOL at bethaleigh thinking a tailwind won't help you run faster. ]
7/1/2008 4:37:04 PM
apparently, along with the awful smog, they're having severe algae problems where the sailing is supposed to happen....
7/1/2008 4:40:14 PM
7/1/2008 4:40:26 PM
Yea, the SA WC won't go smoothly. I met this saffa chick in London who had recently bought a flat a few miles from the stadium, just so she could rent it out. I bet she is biting her nails now.
7/1/2008 4:51:14 PM
But in a pinch, they'll need to put it somewhere where it can be organized quickly and effeciently with minimal purpose-built setup needed. When the SARS scare forced the 2003 Women's World Cup to move, they held it in the US even though the US hosted in 1999.
7/1/2008 4:53:41 PM
Good point.
7/1/2008 4:55:03 PM
Do Olympic gold medalists thank their sponsors on TV after the games?
7/1/2008 4:58:39 PM
7/1/2008 5:48:50 PM
Holy shit man, if it goes to England, I know where I'm gonna be for summer 2010.
7/2/2008 11:23:50 AM
^^ or the USA?With the number of large stadiums and lodging, entertainment, and restaurants in place, I bet America could be a potential replacement host. That way, it would still be played, and it would also keep it off the European continent.
7/2/2008 11:34:35 AM
the US doesn't have enough soccer-specific stadia that could handle 50k+ fans.
7/2/2008 6:35:08 PM
There's no requirement for them to be soccer-specific. As far as emergency replacement venues go, the US is always on the list because there are any number of venues with satisfactory seating and infrastructure.
7/2/2008 6:37:38 PM
I just wouldn't think that without extremely high gusty winds, that you'd be able to pick up enough extra speed to not take the world record when you beat it.
7/2/2008 7:00:05 PM
7/2/2008 7:04:27 PM
You're out of your element, chembob. The largest venue used in the 2006 WC seats 75,000. Six of the twelve stadiums used in 2006 seat less than 50,000.No one gives a shit about watching Romania vs. Iraq. You only need a couple of very large stadiums to host a WC, and the US has a number that seat over 90,000.
