most non ipod mp3 players seem comparable to ipods, but have some glaring annoying flawi know, i bought like 25 different mp3 players before getting my first ipodipod is the best

I have a 4gb Creative mp3 player that costs 25 bucks and works just fine, is about the size of my thumb. Drag and drop folders was my main requirement and it has it. I don't do iTunes
7/16/2008 5:13:54 PM
itunes will do drag & drop foldersand 4 gb is nowhere near enoughalso, ^^^ i have four ipodstwo are shuffles and one is dead, but still ]

I've had three nanos...one old 4GB (water damage) and two new 8 GB ones (both stolen).Wanted a new Zune because I have a shit ton of music that the 8 GB wasn't even close to handling (and iTunes is too damn expansive to download all the shit I want)...but I got a macbook that doesn't allow Windows Media Player that is needed for the Zune. Gay.
7/16/2008 5:25:26 PM
seriouslyhow do you people live with only 4gb
7/16/2008 5:25:46 PM
Do it. I have 2 and they are the best thing ever. I would be lost with them.
7/16/2008 5:26:44 PM
7/16/2008 5:30:59 PM
seriously i have a 30g and have been struggling to find space for all of the music i listen to. i don't think theres an album on there that i haven't listened to under 5 times.
7/16/2008 5:31:01 PM
i don't feel the need to have all my music on mine either, and 40gb isn't enough for even half of it, let alone 4gb ]
7/16/2008 5:34:50 PM
I prefer my Sansa to my iPod Touch. Then again, I was given my iPod Touch, so as far as cost:awesomeness, I guess the Touch does win.
7/16/2008 5:41:55 PM
I use to only use my ipod for running and working out.But when I finally got a hookup for my car and started using it for playlists at the bar I use to workout, I started to put most of my music on there...and then started searching for more/different music. The 8 gb was full in no time.I've got an 80 gb now...don't plan on filling it up anytime soon, but you never know.
7/16/2008 5:42:37 PM
the touch's capacity isn't up to par right nowit'll come aroundalthough screen fragility has always been worrisome for meto be honest, i wish the shit was still black & white and in chicagoi don't need a color screen to pick song titlesbut i don't watch movies/tv on it and have no real desire to
7/16/2008 5:43:54 PM
Apple sucks. You have to use iTunes for an iPod. iTunes sucks.overpriced. look into a creative, you'll save money and be happy you weren't supporting communists.
7/16/2008 5:53:59 PM
i forget whether it was iTunes 3.1 or 4.1, but one version was basically perfectit's kind of a resource hog now, but i still love the interface
7/16/2008 5:55:38 PM
if you get a creative player, you can get FM radio, voice recording, fm recording, and other features iPods don't have.
7/16/2008 5:56:57 PM
why would i want to listen to the radiowhen i have a fucking ipodi have no desire for a do-all devicei want a fucking music player that can hold 2/3rds of my music and deliver it to me quickly, painlessly, and in a pretty packagethe ipod is the ultimate for that
7/16/2008 5:58:18 PM
Is ipod nano a good choice for workouts/running? looks too fragile and i dont see the purpose of videos on such small screeni am thinking of getting a shuffle instead[Edited on July 16, 2008 at 5:59 PM. Reason : ..]
7/16/2008 5:58:51 PM
if you don't mind changing the music every couple of daysthe shuffle is a much better running choiceand no one will try to gank it
7/16/2008 5:59:40 PM
k,thxs
7/16/2008 6:00:29 PM
Loved my nano...just not enough storage for an everyday ipod.I couldn't deal with a shuffle.
7/16/2008 6:05:14 PM
creative players can let you listen to ridiculous amounts of your music (if you're like me, you'd need one of the 30 GB+ models of MP3 player to fit all of your MP3s on there, not including any videos), like the iPod, only you'll have better sound quality while you listen to it. the user interface, at least IMHO, is better on the creative players. the creative player just happens to have more function as well as better function than the iPods do. the radio isn't that bad, sometimes there's a song on there you haven't heard before. i'd be limiting my music listening abilities if i settled for an iPod.
7/16/2008 6:08:30 PM
interface is a personal preference thing...i will always prefer the 2G ipod interface to the current onei'm failing to see how sound quality is better with a creative player...sound quality is based solely on file format and sampling rate, not the player itselfright now i've got an 80GB ipod, and i'm in the process of digitizing a lot of vinyl that will put it right up against capacityand 3.0.1 was the perfect itunes version i was thinking of...the music store (which started with v4) is really what killed the speed/resource use ]
7/16/2008 6:13:17 PM
^actually you are completely wrong.sound quality is largely dependent on the AMP and dsp processing in the device. And Creative has pretty much always had the upper hand on the iPod in this area. Most people can't tell the difference, but there is one.to the OP: simonn, if you want an iPod, BUY IT ON EBAY. They are doing the "buy a student laptop, get a free ipod" promotion right now, which means ebay is FLOODED with brand new in box ipod touch and nano's, that are ~100-120 bucks under retail price.
7/16/2008 6:15:51 PM
it also has to do with the machines ability to put the sound out. just as a better car stereo puts out a better sound.
7/16/2008 6:17:02 PM
my little shuffle is wonderfulI originally had a bigger one, but it was a little too bulky for me (the newer ones are much slimmer, so maybe that wouldn't be such an issue anyhow)[Edited on July 16, 2008 at 6:20 PM. Reason : and yes, the shuffle is great for working out, etc]
7/16/2008 6:19:33 PM
i hate how sick it makes me to admitbut i love my fucking ipodi would do foolish and terrible things to defend it WHICH ONE A YOU BITCHES TRYNA STEAL MY IPOD!?get onethey rule
7/16/2008 6:21:11 PM
eh, fair enoughbut i listen to the shit through $30 earbuds, so any difference in processing is cancelled out by those anywaythere's no reason to go for super fidelity when you're dealing with a mobile device anywayyou need to push a fair amount of air for a pop record to sound like it really should, and i'm certainly not using my ipod to feed my home stereo
7/16/2008 6:25:12 PM
last i checked the creative zen also had a more brillant screen than what iPods were offering at the time.
7/16/2008 6:25:51 PM
I really like the look/storage capacity/interface of ipods, but I don't use a portable music player enough to justify the cost. Plus itunes makes my computer wheeze and sputter.
7/16/2008 6:26:35 PM
i have a creative zen 4gb and love it...except for the part where it no longer talks to my computer for some reason. Other wise its been great, the interface is easy to use and makes sense, no iTunes to deal with, I can put any format I want on it apart from the iPod specific mp4 or w/e, and it acts like a removable hard drive when I put music on it. There is also a sync program for the music if you're into that, but I prefer the drag and drop.
7/16/2008 6:27:03 PM
^^^ i don't care about the screen at alli'm selecting text for christ's sake ]
7/16/2008 6:27:13 PM
I just hate the cost of itunes. Zune's offer is so much better....I just had to get a fucking mac!![Edited on July 16, 2008 at 6:27 PM. Reason : .]
