it definitely doesn't make my list of fav movies, but it was okay
7/19/2008 11:46:42 PM
Smokin' Aces is fucking terrible..I feel like staying in tonight and watching a movie and this is my favorite genre...As far as ones I've seen... Heat is a great crime thriller. Ummm.... Yeah, Seven is great and it's on one of the inDemand channels... Departed grows on me everytime I see it, though I'm not high on the ending. Some others are the original Manchurian Candidate (not the shitty ass remake), Usual Suspects... and of my course my favorite ensemble movie, LA Confidential...[Edited on July 19, 2008 at 11:54 PM. The problem with Smokin' Aces is that they abandoned the action for a plot that was way too heavy. Try The French Connection or if you want to stay recent Death Proof had a lot of senseless talking but the car chase scenes were some of the best I've seen and if you're the least bit familiar with grindhouse cinema you'll recognize that Tarantino does a pretty good job of capturing the feeling.H8R is right on, 300! far exceeded my expectations and kicks ass and Casino Royale was wicked, it was one of the better James Bond films (if not the best).[Edited on July 20, 2008 at 12:03 AM. Check out "Dead Calm". It's old (89) but it's good. The Long Kiss Good NightHEAT - Epic crime drama with the best gun fight you've ever seen.
7/23/2008 12:23:08 AM
lock, stock, and two smoking barrels. the way of the gun. blood, guts, bullets and octane (if you liked Smokin' Aces). Chopper. equilibrium. knockaround guys. layer cake. memento. michael clayton. no country for old men. sin city (come on guys). battle royale 2 (if you don't mind something incredibly fuckin ridiculous). road to perdition. The bank job. stop loss. vantage point (sure, it wasn't too good, but it's matthew fox).
7/23/2008 12:28:22 AM
Take Michael Clayton off that list.
7/23/2008 12:29:18 AM

I don't think it's a bad movie, it's just too slow to be a thriller imo. Honestly, I really wasn't sure what to make of it. It was more dangerous than a drama movie yet too boring to be a thriller.
7/23/2008 12:34:33 AM
