OK, have nice pants and a matching jacket, looks like I'm gonna end up having to find a part time job. What kind of short sleeve or sleeveless shirt would be suitable? Are empire waisted ones like this ok?http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/juniors/tops/buttondownshirts/PRD~344864/SO+Striped+Poplin+Shirt.jsp#Should I get one that's obscenely plain, ditch the collar, etc? It's only gonna be a part time job but all I've got right now are polos.

i interviewed for all my part time jobs in jeans and a tshirtand i've never been rejected
7/22/2008 11:09:20 AM
pants suit is always safest bet because it shows that you are conservative, and neutral.[Edited on July 22, 2008 at 11:10 AM. Reason : oh this is for part time, nm, but for a good job this is way to go]
7/22/2008 11:09:53 AM
seriously, though, pics help...not every woman can pull off every style of clothing, and some are definitely better suited than others
7/22/2008 11:11:12 AM
talbots is dressy yet fun!!1~

i would stay away from sleeveless. what kind of part time job is this? when i interviewed for part time jobs at vets' offices, a doggie day care, and a pet food company, and various other places, i wore dress slacks and 3/4 sleeve button down dress shirts. same pants i'd wear w/ a suit or for a full time interview, and basically the same type of shirt, just shorter sleeves. short sleeves would probably be okay, depending on body type, but 3/4 would be safer.it all depends on where you're interviewing...[Edited on July 22, 2008 at 11:15 AM. 7/22/2008 11:16:02 AM
what kind of job?I wore a button up shirt with 3/4th sleeves, slacks and short heels for an IT job. I was as dressed up as one of the VPs, and the woman I (now) work with wore white jeans and a brown billabong tshirt
7/22/2008 11:16:04 AM

goodluck finding a job lauren
7/22/2008 11:30:13 AM
Ok, took pics. The first one shows that you can see my tatt through light colored shirts, so I'm probably gonna get a colored one instead of white. Not sure what I'm gonna be doing. Wish I could get a gig with the guy I know that does liquor marketing but I seriously doubt that's going to happen. Maybe I'll see if any of the local bike shops are hiring, but I'd prefer something with better pay. :p[Edited on July 22, 2008 at 11:41 AM. Reason : ...]

do dress like a whore, you will be considered a distraction in the workplacebtw
7/22/2008 11:40:19 AM
Well back in the day women weren't allowed to wear pants, so when they were first introduced, women who bought them were deemed "liberal" and all that other junk. That is why they tell you to wear a skirt suit if you're going to an ultra-conservative company for an interview, but you're not a girl so you wouldn't know that.Lauren you can totally pull off a fun color shirt under a suit Good luck!!!![Edited on July 22, 2008 at 11:41 AM. 7/22/2008 11:41:09 AM
^^ my company has only allowed women to wear pants in the workplace in the last 30 years or so
7/22/2008 11:42:46 AM
^see she knows
7/22/2008 11:43:26 AM
30 years is a long time. [Edited on July 22, 2008 at 11:44 AM. Reason : asdf]
7/22/2008 11:43:38 AM
imo women should not be allowed to wear anything OTHER THAN pants in the workplace
7/22/2008 11:43:46 AM
make sure to introduce yourself as "cultureslayer" I would hire you immediately
7/22/2008 11:44:48 AM

You could pull off what you have on in your pic for an interview.[Edited on July 22, 2008 at 11:50 AM. Reason : Then again I'm currently wearing a button up shirt, slacks and skate shoes at work]
7/22/2008 11:48:59 AM
Hahah I didn't figure you to be the one to go ultra-conservative, but I was trying to explain that technicality to seedless since he always seems to think he's right about EVERYTHING.
7/22/2008 11:49:14 AM
lewoods is hot!
7/22/2008 11:50:02 AM
see, thats were you are wrong, i was asking because i wanted to know. in the modern world pants are more conservative. this is not 1950 ok.
7/22/2008 11:50:34 AM
Crispin Glover
7/22/2008 11:57:40 AM
no problem, the stuff about more conservative companies and the skirts is good to know just in case anyway. Bike in the pics is dead. Neighbor ran it over, don't have pics of my new one. It's even more of a POS but 250s are so hard to find right now I'm just glad I've got it.Umm, whoever asked if I have a boyfriend did not check out the photobucket, or they'd have seen a folder named "Kevin"
7/22/2008 11:57:57 AM

biggest thing is to keep talking... half the time they dont care how you answer questions, they just want to see that you can think on your feet.... worst thing is to sit there going "ummm... ummm"
7/22/2008 12:02:12 PM
