Hostage situation at lingerie store ends peacefully

Fayetteville, N.C. — A hostage situation at a lingerie store in Fayetteville has ended peacefully, but Sycamore Dairy Road between McPherson Church Road and Bragg Boulevard remains closed.

Fayetteville police responded to a report of robbery in progress at Priscilla's on Sycamore Dairy Road at about 12:41 p.m.

Police Lt. David Sportsman said the man, whose name was not immediately available, walked into the business with what appeared to be a bomb and took a female store clerk hostage.

The man also demanded to speak to Lt. Charles Disponzio, head of the homicide unit for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, Sportsman said.

Sportsman said investigators believe Disponzio is a mutual acquaintance of the man.

The situation ended at about 1:55 p.m. No one was hurt.

The store was expected to reopen later Monday afternoon. The county bomb squad was sweeping through the store as a precaution.
