Ok here's the deal.

I was friends with this guy in high school, we'll say "Jim."

I've known him since the 10th grade and also know his family very well.

"Jim" had an extremely hot and really cool, down to earth girlfriend that he dated for a bout a year and was "in love with her."

However, "Jim" fucked up, he robbed a bank (which embarasses me to even call him a friend at that point but still all the same) and ended up in prison and has been there 6 months, and will not be out for another 6 months. "Jim" is now reportedly huge and could easily kick my ass.

Recently his ex has told me that she doesn't want to see him again, will never date him in the future, and has made it abundantly clear that she wants me to take her out. However, I feel guilty at the notion of "stabbing" my friend in the back.

the juicy part (as if robbing the bank wasn't already)
1. He didn't treat her right
2. I've witnessed him cheat on her on 3 occasions, one of them being in my house with a girl I was dating at the time (but I never told the girl in question anything about it)

What would be the best thing to do?

its kind of funny, he wasn't like that at all in high school. he hadn't had so much as a parking ticket before he robbed that bank. he graduated with better grades than me, went to state, and is the son of one of the best surgeons in the state.

haha i'm not really worried about him kicking my ass, obviously he knows if he pulled something like that he'd go back to prison for the maximum sentence, especially when he's already a felon it would be an aggravating factor.
