I was thinking about this this morning. Back then the world was kind of stupid and innocent in a way. Gas was cheap, the economy wasn't in the shitter, and all we cared about was who the President was getting a BJ from. We already had the internet but it hadn't quite saturated every aspect of our lives like it does today. Cell phones were clunkier and more expensive but we weren't on them as much. Mainstream entertainment, overall, was no better or worse than today, IMO.

I did say late '90s. Gulf War I happened about 1990-91. I'll agree that the early '90s were about as shitty as today, with the recession and all.

I think entertainment is a trade-off. We constantly have a combination of good and bad as time progresses. The late '90s had some good alternative music, but also Spice Whores, N-Suck, and Backside Boys. We didn't have reality TV everywhere, but lame sitcoms persisted (alongside good ones).
