i'm down with corporal punishment, but not in public schools. i can't believe even johnston county employed it up until this point.[Edited on August 13, 2008 at 10:54 PM. Reason : i wonder if any J. Co. public schools actually did it, or if it's now just formally outlawed?]

i used to teach in JC and we definitely were not allowed to touch the kids in any way.

This is a good thing IMO. I wouldn't trust some loser teacher or principal to have authority to spank my children. If it needs to be done I'll do it myself. Anyone else that lays a hand on my children should expect repercussions. It will probably prevent some lawsuits in the long run.[Edited on August 14, 2008 at 8:55 AM. Reason : l]

attended wayne co. public schools k-12 and they allowed spanking with this wooden paddle with parental permission (a check yes or no thing at the beginning of each school year)i saw the worst of the worst get took out and spanked with it several times. all they did was hurt their feelings, i guarantee those kids felt no pain whatsoever.my mom always checked no and wrote at the bottom "if you think he needs a spanking, do not hesitate to call me and i will go out there and straighten him right out." [Edited on August 14, 2008 at 9:04 AM. Reason : my mom used an old belt and it fucking hurt]

If anything we need more corporal punishment. Should we really be surprised that students are more disruptive and rude now that corporal punishment is all but history? Maybe if we let teachers slap students around when they fuck up, the little bastards will learn to sit down, shut up, and not talk back.

sure, kids need to be whooped more often, but i think that should be done by the parentsif for no other reason than to avoid a shit ton of lawsuitsand i imagine the policy allowing corp. punishment in joco has been rarely (if ever) used in the past few years

This is retarded to even be brought up.No public school that I know of use corporal punishment. It has been legal forever though. I don't see why it is such a big deal that it is finally disappearing.Besides, kids should be getting spankings, instead of asking the kid why they are feeling upset and acting out.
