I know enough korean and mandarin to be cordial when meeting someone, and enough to handle what i need to do in a bar... ie, cold beer please, where's the bathroom, getting the waitress' attention, may I have my check please, etc.

although it's kinda cool in korea that if you're at a table they have these like ringers to summon the servers. it'd annoy the piss out of me if i was the server.

The last few days I've kinda gotten intrigued by the korean alphabet... mostly b/c it's very patternistic and i enjoy that. figured most of it out, but not realy sure what the words mean without help

my friend got flown up to Wilmington for an interview (after a phone interview a week or two ago) and she knows a ton of chinese. She was saying if she got a job offer she would go for a operations position at a plant rather than the field engineer program.

I've got a few friends in a city a little bit further south from where im at now. I was going to go down there or over to japan this weekend.

Saturday night I met a few girls that are over here teaching english and ended up out draaaankin till ~5am. I probably could have gotten up with one particular one, but I didnt really try since I was supposed to go back to work in an hour or two and needed to sober up.

when i first started using the handle in like.... 10th grade (~1998 or so) i used to wear a pair of doc martins that were black with a single buckle on the side instead of laces. i called them pilgrimshoes, even though they weren't the traditional single buckle on top that you see in pictures and shit... and who knows if that was even historically accurate. idk why but i started using pilgrimshoes in video/computer games and it just kinda went from there.

for the record i havent owned a pair of shoes with buckles this millenia.

reminds me of when i was a kid and my best friend got a pellet rifle that was an m-16 replica.

that's the best thing about living in an asian country. a short jaunt to china or japan is considered a DAY trip.

what city in korea are you staying?

are you acclimated to the 24 hr lifestyle?

have you gone to the hangover soup kitchens?

also try not to bang out the english teachers, they be crazy. of course the young professionals are fair game.

yeah i'm only here for like 3 weeks this time, but spent most of july in china/hong kong too. and likely to be back here in a few more months for another jaunt. Currently hoppin' between Seoul, Ulsan, and Busan. The lifestyle here is pretty bananas indeed, esp. since we're still basically in a startup schedule for work... it's like college on steroids at night, then 14+hour days everyday.... I've learned the wonders of a hot and spicey stew for breakfast . Sobers you up pretty quick, and burns off whatever hangover you had.

yeah i'm having a lot of reservations about the teacher squad i've been hanging out with... hearing some concerning stories about "tramping through thailand"

well so far korea is the drinkin'est place ive ever been to

i've never seen a place where entire blocks have different bars on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors, for most of the buildings in the district.

and i enjoy the juice sooo.....


however i'm not really down for some of the local distain towards americans.

and it aint like this whitey's gonna blend in.

for an overall answer though im gonig to go with new zealand.
