I disliked it when I saw how slow it is compared to other sites. Take TWW for example....

I was going to say your best bet is to divulge into a local board and meet the people that run it. that's how it happened to me I guess....

BoardBound was my best friend when I was in VA. Hung out 4 to 5 times a week.
