so is the boat built to scale based on the fact that the lego men are japanese or american lego dudes?

This photoset documents a guy constructing the H.M.S. Hood in a similar scale:

no they aint.

once your building on that scale you might as well buy a MIG welder and a plasma cutter and do it with thin steel, cost wise.

It is awesome though.

serious question here. how does one go about building a model like that (regardless of the medium) without a set of drawings? Seems like it would be impossible to get the proportions correct just by using the eyeball method.

i'm sure there was forethought there. i wouldn't believe he just did that all in his head.

it looks like some of those pieces were custom too. at least, i haven't seen some of those kinds of pieces before.

man i wish so bad i had all my legos, i guarantee you i would bust them out and start building like i was 10 again. I want to actually go to the lego store when it comes to the mall. now that i have a job, i can see myself buying a bunch of legos again just because they are still so damn cool.

so did y'all make your own creations or just follow the instructions?

i only had a couple of the kits, but i had a huge bucket of random pieces my mom bought me at a yard sale. i just made up all kinds of multi-colored shit. i had an awesome combine one time.

i used the sets and often modified them, like castles n pirate ships n stuff.....then had major battles and blew everything up n rebuilt it
