My sis was lucky enough to get one of the WiFi-enabled jets for a hop BUF->BWI. It worked well. The standard 10K ft. rule still applies.

All you need is a Wi-Fi enabled device (802.11a/b/or g) with an Internet browser. Please note that cellular devices without a Wi-Fi component will not work with this system, and their use is restricted to Game or Airplane mode per current regulations.

That seems to indicate otherwise

^^^We are, in fact, descending! About to head over Lake Michigan now, on the way to chicago.
According to FlightAware, current altitude is 17,300ft, but it also shows us still only 3/4 closer to chicago than indianapolis

I'll keep you posted in case our pilot dies or our plane breaks up over the Atlantic.
