I was unable to finish watching the movie AI and I dont know any of the characters names. I can say with confidence, though, that Spielberg has an unmatched ability to very thoroughly ruin Stanley Kubrick movies. Kubrick had a habit of making movies that had a tangible malice to them. Stephen King said he thought Kubrick wanted to make "a movie that could hurt people" when he directed the Shining. Spielberg likes to take people on an emotional tour while Kubrick just wanted people to hate themselves for unspecified reasons
