I've played about 5 times in tennis class at NC State, if someone with no skills ion the Raleigh area every wants to play on Saturday then let me know.

played like 5 of the last 7 days, and am back in to it again, unfortunately i don't seem to be getting any better. I really don't want to take lessons, but serving is difficult. i can get a good first serve in only like 20 percent of the time. and i have no second serve at all, i just have to hit it over soft, its terrible

i need to learn a kick serve. i tried reading some articles online, but it makes no sense.

if anyone who is decent but not great wants to play in the raleigh area let me know. I'd say I'm maybe a 3 or 3.5?

I have recently learned that it is not a good idea to pick up a tennis racket for the first time in 10 years and then play for 3 hours. My forearm is really sore

stop hitting flat serves

to kick serve, swing the racket in a crescent starting from behind your head. you kinda want to "roof" the ball and you use a lot more wrist than a flat serve. your follow-through will end up sort of parallel to your shoulders instead of following the ball.

kick serves as 2nd serves are a lot safer than the low-flying flat serves imo

buy a hopper... get some balls... Find a court... wear yourself out...

Toss the ball way high... and hit it into the box on the other side of the net diagonal to you



Honestly between the online help and a TON of practice I got my serve pretty reliable... as long as I stay in practice...
