Definitely had to take that 2 days before my wedding when food poisioning struck and I threw up 13 times. I was sick of hearing "at least you'll be able to fit in your wedding dress!" but that stuff works wonders.
7/17/2009 1:38:38 PM
how do you afford all these prescriptions without insurance?
7/17/2009 1:41:42 PM
oh look, another thread by lila about medicine!
7/17/2009 1:42:58 PM
^^i pay a ton of $ for them and am broke the rest of the time. most medicines i take are generic so they aren't too bad. the migraines ones are $30/pill though and I can take a pill to two a day during a bad episode so it's expensive. i applied for medicaid since i'm unemployed.
7/17/2009 9:56:06 PM

7/17/2009 9:56:57 PM
do you feel better today?
7/17/2009 10:02:30 PM
speaking of insurance, i need to go get my eyes checked. number one so i can actually use the insurance and not be wasting money, and number two so i can skip an afternoon of workand whats up with dental, its cheaper to just pay cash to get your teeth cleaned every 6 months. i guess its just in case you get hit in the face with a brick
7/17/2009 10:17:08 PM
or you are like me and clench your teeth so hard at night that you crack them
7/17/2009 10:39:33 PM

I try to keep a few "emergency" meds around just in case I am vomiting, get the urge to vomit, or start to feel like I'm going to vomit. If I've got a day where I absolutely can't fuck with it, or if I have a stomach virus, I take ondansetron, which is basically the nuclear option for all things nausea. They're also expensive as dick for the insurance company (even generics), but it's the only anti-nausea and/or anti-emetic that I've ever taken that has zero side effects (pretty important to me as a member of team aidsabeetus). For days on which I feel a little shitty when waking up, but don't think it'll go anywhere, I just drink a bit of emetrol. Basically it's glucose goo that works magic to stop nausea, as long as that nausea isn't caused by health factors like a cold, a virus, an infection, etc.If it's nausea and indigestion and a whole host of other delightful symptoms, pepto-bismol still seems to work very well. It's usually what I reach to first in a "god why do I feel like this right now" situation. Of course, this has often led to me throwing up pink stuff, so now I often just use pepto for acid indigestion.I used to keep some phenergan around, but to be honest I absolutely hate that shit. Makes me feel sick to my stomach (any opiate/narcotic/whateverthefuck that phenergan is will do that to me) even while stopping the vomiting, so fuck it.One amusing thing that works sometimes is tylenol. Sometimes I get a low grade fever without realizing it, pop two tylenol, sit on my ass drinking water for thirty minutes, and then voila I have no more shitty sensations in my stomach. With it seeming like you're already paying too much for meds why not consider trying to get on some sort of basic insurance plan to help with meds. Like those $8/mo cards that offer discounts on generics and such.
7/18/2009 5:24:37 AM
pepto makes me puke too in times like those. i have not tried the glucose stuff but i will pick some up before my trip. i try to drink gatorade usually b/c it has the sugar and electrolytes.ondansetron sounds like an amazing thing. i want it! but i don't have insurance i would try to the tylenol thing but most times i can't stomach any pills....hence why i have suppositories for times like that. phenergan doesn't work that well for me or zofran but that's what they usually give me.
7/18/2009 5:29:59 AM
Ondansetron is the stuff they give to chemo patients to stop their nausea symptoms. There's a reason it's not cheap.I got charged $55/pill on insurance (before they covered anything) when I went to the ER, so I wouldn't even mess with it before you find work.
7/18/2009 5:41:22 AM
zofran = odansetron
7/18/2009 7:26:29 AM
^^ the ER also charges 20 bucks a pill for 50 cent pain meds, i doubt its that expensive at the real pharmacy
7/18/2009 8:38:19 AM
I took Zofran while I was pregnant because of the severity of my morning sickness. If it isn't generic, it costs $36/pill in your local pharmacy. Just my copay on 12 pills was $45.
7/18/2009 8:49:45 AM
oh wow i thought it was cause it came from the hospital ER, thats mucho money for a pill
7/18/2009 9:19:07 AM
7/18/2009 9:20:15 AM
i keep hearing about vicodin and pain pills and etc etcif youre really taking all that its no wonder you're throwing up all the time
7/18/2009 9:30:33 AM
I don't have Vicodin anymore so I am off the pain pills...they were just temporary for my back. They said the vomiting could be from withdrawals because I took it for months but the last time I went to the ER for vomiting I was on it and not withdrawing b/c I was trying to get rid of my headache. They said I should have tapered down off of it for future reference.[Edited on July 18, 2009 at 9:35 AM. Reason : er]
7/18/2009 9:34:02 AM
doubt it was withdrawal. the signs are pretty obvious.
7/18/2009 4:08:50 PM
zofran
7/18/2009 6:15:09 PM
you'd know if it was withdrawal
