I fell that way about Raleigh, I couldn't wait to get out. Now I would give it all up to go back.

Raleigh's definitely a more interesting city than Jacksonville. Then again, I've only now been on land as much as I've been out at sea. And a good part of my time on land I'm still on the ship.

Canes game at RBC>>>>>>>>>>>>>Panthers game at BOA

A lot of folks think that the NFL is better on TV anyway.

Nah, if you stay in civilization it's like any other city. Where I live now the people are a shitton nicer than anywhere else I've lived, it's fantastic. People actually say hello when you pass them, help each other out when they can, cleanest city I've ever lived in, etc.

Go outside city limits and it's pretty much everything I never want to be, aha.

The thing I miss about Raleigh is the culture. Raleigh has has identity; food, nightlife, good people. Where I live now, its just so black and white; no culture no identity nothing that sets it apart. Its trashy, I couldn't see raising a family here unless I had a good deal money or ties to the old money here. Its like being trapped in a Bruce Springsteen song.

Guess its just me but I enjoyed my time there. The campus area is something to be desired but the city itself has a lot to offer. I grew up outside of D.C. and Raleigh has all the amenities that Metro D.C. has but the pace of life is much nicer.

I'm not trying to down Raleigh (I like it pretty well) or question your knowledge of DC, but what about. . .

1. An authentic-tasting gyro?

2. The Capital Grille?

3. All the other fine dining and cultural experiences?

4. All the historical locations?

1. I really miss Baba Ghannouj in Cary

2. If I'm not mistaken, Capital Grille is a chain. And Yes, D.C. Metro has much more diverse dining. My parents are in the business up there. I really wish I could get Dim Sum here. But I think Raleigh is on the up and up when it comes to dining. There are also some really good spots.

3 + 4. It its apples to oranges but if you at like this. Raleigh has a really nice mall, its no Tysons but its pretty damn good. You could be stuck where I am and have basically the shittiest mall to ever grace the planet. You got good supermarkets, shops that are close by. There are plenty of trails, parks, etc and man I could be at the coast in 2.5 hrs.

I think he means a straight shot, it wouldn't take nearly as long if you made a hypotenuse with that trip on the interstate.
