How long is too long to have swollen feet and ankles?

If my feet have been swollen for a month is that too long?
I have a feeling it has to do with my summer job and doing a lot of standing/walking.
I've taken anti-inflammatories and it's not helping are there other drugs I can take?

Swollen feet and ankles can be a sign of all kinds of health problems, some very serious. Go to the doctor.

How about pickles? Do you really want pickles? Dirt, perhaps?

It's better to find out and address the underlying cause than to just try to treat the symptoms.

But then again, you've never really been known for common sense or anything like that.

^^You could be right....the camp food I had been eating all summer wasn't really known for being exactly healthy. Maybe after a while back on normal food it will go down.

Because I could totally control the food I ate this summer . Also, they are probably swollen from me walking around all the time and being on my feet too long. So get off your soap box for a bit.

if you're noticing enough swelling to be worried about it, you should be making an appt with the dr.

i can't imagine that too much salt would make your ankles/feet swell enough to make you worry.

I would like to take this time to apologize to sawahash for my previous comment. In retrospect I realize it was rude, demeaning, off topic, and insulting. I'm sorry.
I would like nothing more than for you to accept my apology, and hopefully we can move on from this point. Also, I hope your feet feel better.

Well they aren't super swollen, it's just that they have been swollen for a month now, that is what is worrying me. I just didn't know if this was a common thing to happen somtimes.

i've had times where i was on my feet all day (and most of the night), i've had times where i ate a little more salt than was normal, and i'm currently doing a running program for the 1st time. at no point have my feet/ankles swollen up so that anyone would notice.

bottombaby said it best.

your feet and ankles don't swell simply because you stand up a lot.

I stand up for 8-10 hours 5 days a week and have done so for over 2 years now.

My feet and ankles do not swell.

It boils down to you need to find out if you have heart failure, kidney failure, or liver failure.

Any of these three things can kill you if you ignore it.

If you ignore it it WILL not go away.

Have i scared you enough yet?

get thee to thy doctor

^^No, I wasn't being forced dark chocolate and ice cream. In fact, I rarely had the opportunity to get those. However, when you work at a summer camp where the only meal that I can control what I eat is dinner on Saturday nights (only if I wanna pay for it) it's kinda hard to pick a healthy alternative....when the only other alternatives are PB&J or go hungry.

I can give you a weekly menu if you want....cause when you work at a summer camp they are going to serve comfort foods to kids so that we can cut back on homesickness.

So please get off your soap box now.

Yes. However, I did not have access to a fridge, nor are we allowed to have food in our cabins. There are animals that will get into cabins if they smell food.

People like you make me so angry.

You obviously have the option to eat salads and what not, but you CHOOSE to be fat. Quit yet bitchin' and take control of your life.

you'll get no sympathy from me.

^^People like you who know more about my life than I do make me angry. But whatever...

^Yeah I got payed around $1.20/hour....it really was a great summer job. I really hope I get to go back next year.

No, I did NOT have the option to eat salads all the time, just twice a week.
