^ I always used to joke with Dr. Heatwole that if I got bit I would just man-up and not go to the doctor and ride it out.. he would just go "*sigh* I'm required to tell you that we would have to take you there." I think he thought it was ridiculous too (for copperheads at least... when we were talking about cottonmouths he said then he would definitely make sure a hospital visit was in order )

Well, the hospital could still help out with the pain, because if you don't get a dry bite, I'm sure that bitch is gonna hurt. A friend of mine said it was like fire in your veins. But I guess it all depends. If you aren't working with venomous snakes, chances are pretty low you'll be bitten at any point in the future. But if you choose to work with venomous snakes, you better not waste your one good shot on something that's just gonna hurt a lot and cause some localized necrosis when there are others out there that'll fuck your life up, seriously.
My EDBs, on the other hand...will put more than a hurtin on you.

i don't understand this thread at all

i just came in to say that i'm scared of stepping on a snake when i take my dog out in the woods in the night or early morning when it is dark. a) cause it is dark and b) i'm usually half asleep

i feel like there has been a debate about this before but some kind of poisonous snake lives in my neighborhood. i dunno if it is a copperhead or what. we also see black snakes sometimes.

i just don't want to step on one. i don't even know if that is likely. it is just a fear i have.
