9/23/2009 1:17:17 AM
its a mail order bride, isn't it?
9/23/2009 1:19:10 AM
that wouldn't be marrying somebody so they could get a green card... that is shipping somebody so you can marry them.
9/23/2009 1:21:40 AM
this is true....unless you marry them out of the country, which gives them justification for the green card...but point taken
9/23/2009 1:22:32 AM
9/23/2009 1:25:31 AM
what Ragged said
9/23/2009 2:08:39 AM
for realzie - i was asked to do this for someone. for cash munnies. GOOD cash munnies. i was thinking about it when he got deported. still not sure. i probably would have done it. 2k and he was going to pay all marriage and legal fees. but i was in a different relationship then.in my current relationship i couldn't do that for all the money in the world. i love the man i am with, and would never ask him to let me do this for any amount of money.short story - yes, if i wasn't in a loving, committed relationship
9/23/2009 2:13:03 AM
9/23/2009 2:18:42 AM
2000 just to me was decent at the time, especially since (now) the relationship was not so great.
9/23/2009 2:20:40 AM
back when i worked at lord and taylor there was this russian mail order bride who worked there too. she married to get into the country but she clearly didnt give a shit about him. she hit on me all the time but i was young and stupid back then and didnt do shit.
9/23/2009 2:31:23 AM
if it's anything less than $40k, don't do it. That's the current rate.
9/23/2009 2:58:25 AM
About 8 years ago I was offered $15k to marry someone for their green card. I considered it. Thank god I didn't though ... def wouldn't do it for less than $50k now.
9/23/2009 8:15:15 AM
the better thing to do is if its a woman, fuck her and get her prego. then make sure the baby is born in the US. now the baby gets citizenship and the mom can then get it for herself. now she can get welfare too.love the system
9/23/2009 8:17:28 AM
About 6 years ago I was offered 50 grand. This was back when I thought I was going to be a mechanical engineer. Now that I'm PRT I'm only offered 25 grand. Shoulda took the 50 when I had a chance.
9/23/2009 8:18:01 AM
^^^what if it was to me?
9/23/2009 8:23:46 AM
Not sure I'm wife material, but sure!
9/23/2009 8:31:47 AM
fo serious, i turned it down pretty quickly. but it was kinda weird having a friend call me randomly saying "hey do you want to get married to this girl from out of the country?"
9/24/2009 9:22:48 AM
would you have to (or want to) consummate the marriage?
9/24/2009 9:24:39 AM
I had an acquaintance years ago that did this.
9/24/2009 9:25:22 AM
9/24/2009 9:31:45 AM
opposed to marriage, so prolly notwould be heavily dependent on extenuating circumstancesbut marriage can be a bitch, so prolly not
9/24/2009 9:36:23 AM
There are whole agencies overseas that are devoted to this very thing. They find men or women in the US and organize the whole thing. An amount of money is agreed upon, usually a lump sum up front and subsequent annual payments. They will even pay to fly you over there to take wedding pictures, family photos, etc etc, to make it believable should INS ever come to your house for a visit. It is WAY more common than you might think.
9/24/2009 9:47:50 AM
seems like that'd have a pretty obvious audit trail
9/24/2009 9:49:07 AM
Since this is a public forum, I'm not going to get into any specifics. Let's just say that people do this successfully for many years without recourse.
9/24/2009 9:52:29 AM
Would You Marry meso I could get my green card? fo realz
9/24/2009 9:52:39 AM
i just think its kinda crazy to think about. even more so since it is common. i should have asked what country she was from and if she was hott.
9/24/2009 9:54:47 AM
My friend from Israel who is currently in the US on a visitors visa (but is also working under the table) is looking for someone that would marry her so she can stay in the country. I think she asked my brother a hundred times. He's in the army and would be overseas anyway most of the time but I couldn't blame him for saying No. So anyone interested in her PM me... she's hot and actually not jewish but athiest!
9/24/2009 9:56:32 AM
I always joke with my wife that we're the first case ever of a white chick marrying an indian dude so she could get a green card.
9/24/2009 9:57:00 AM
How about you show me the green then I'll let you get yours. amirite?
9/24/2009 9:58:09 AM
^^^ yeah, it's VERY common with military dudes, for the simple reason that they are never home anyway so it's really easy to fake.[Edited on September 24, 2009 at 9:58 AM. Reason : a]
9/24/2009 9:58:15 AM

9/24/2009 9:59:28 AM
9/24/2009 10:13:47 AM
negotiations should probably not be had in thread.but feel free to PM me a picture of this girl. i don't want to marry her but i do like me some ethnic womenz
9/24/2009 10:20:37 AM
Would I get to have sex with them?If so, yes.
9/24/2009 10:23:41 AM
essentially, they pay YOU for sex...pay you WELL
9/24/2009 10:28:46 AM
do you have to stay married to them? how does that work?
9/24/2009 10:33:24 AM
9/24/2009 10:36:31 AM
so...4 years total? 5 to be on the safe side?
9/24/2009 10:38:08 AM
Here are the criteria for obtaining permanent residence:
9/24/2009 10:39:31 AM
now that i think about it... i am not sure why i turned it down. I don't really have a plan of marrying anyway.
9/24/2009 11:26:49 AM
so i could marry them and then beat them?
9/24/2009 11:29:42 AM
but if they kill you first and get away with it... they still become a citizen.

FYI guys, just finally got word that my green card was "going into production" the other day after it was supposed to take 3 months (6 months max) from my application date in Feb 2008. I had to get the local Congressman's office involved since the USCIS customer service # was hanging up on me, saying they could only "tell me what's on their screen," and the local office was giving me the run-around.It's a fucking nightmare. Thank God I married someone I love. If anyone's considering it, you better get at least $50k and have all your expenses etc paid for during that time (unless you want to go to prison, you should be living together).Oh, and as far as the "check ups" and all that, we had to go to 2 interviews, one for the work permit (after 2-3 months) and one for the conditional permanent residency (after 1 yr). They could've interviewed us again for lifting the conditional status (at 2 yrs, 9 mo) and give me the green card, but I guess I checked out, being that I can speak English and I hadn't spent more than 1 week out of the country the whole time I was here. They don't come to your house or anything. But we got married in Feb 2005 and it's taken this long. If everything had gone as planned, I'd have been a citizen last Feb. I'll be applying the day I get my card, that's for sure. So I guess I'm saying don't do it, since 4-5 years is a long time to lock yourself into with someone, unless you're sure you're never you'll never find someone you actually want to marry in the next 5 years.
