that wouldn't be marrying somebody so they could get a green card... that is shipping somebody so you can marry them.

this is true....

unless you marry them out of the country, which gives them justification for the green card...

for realzie - i was asked to do this for someone. for cash munnies. GOOD cash munnies. i was thinking about it when he got deported. still not sure. i probably would have done it. 2k and he was going to pay all marriage and legal fees. but i was in a different relationship then.

in my current relationship i couldn't do that for all the money in the world. i love the man i am with, and would never ask him to let me do this for any amount of money.

short story - yes, if i wasn't in a loving, committed relationship

the better thing to do is if its a woman, fuck her and get her prego. then make sure the baby is born in the US. now the baby gets citizenship and the mom can then get it for herself. now she can get welfare too.

love the system

About 6 years ago I was offered 50 grand. This was back when I thought I was going to be a mechanical engineer. Now that I'm PRT I'm only offered 25 grand. Shoulda took the 50 when I had a chance.

Doesn't quite work like that. They'd have to at least wait until the baby was 21 (or they got married) to file for citizenship for the mother, specifically to prevent these kinds of cases.

There are whole agencies overseas that are devoted to this very thing. They find men or women in the US and organize the whole thing. An amount of money is agreed upon, usually a lump sum up front and subsequent annual payments. They will even pay to fly you over there to take wedding pictures, family photos, etc etc, to make it believable should INS ever come to your house for a visit. It is WAY more common than you might think.

Since this is a public forum, I'm not going to get into any specifics. Let's just say that people do this successfully for many years without recourse.

My friend from Israel who is currently in the US on a visitors visa (but is also working under the table) is looking for someone that would marry her so she can stay in the country.

I think she asked my brother a hundred times. He's in the army and would be overseas anyway most of the time but I couldn't blame him for saying No.

So anyone interested in her PM me... she's hot and actually not jewish but athiest!

^^^ yeah, it's VERY common with military dudes, for the simple reason that they are never home anyway so it's really easy to fake.

"Yes, marriage to U.S. citizen based Green Cards are temporary in nature. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) grants Conditional Permanent Residency for two years, after which you need to file for Removal of Conditions to get a permanent Green Card. The USCIS does a second check on the marriage after two years because marriage is a relatively easy route to get permanent residency in the U.S."

Here are the criteria for obtaining permanent residence:

Quote :
"You may apply to remove your conditions on permanent residence if you:

• Are still married to the same U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident after two years (your children may be included in your application if they got their conditional resident status at the same time that you did or within 90 days)
• Are a child and cannot be included in the application of your parents for a valid reason
• Are a widow or widower of a marriage that was entered into in good faith
• Entered into a marriage in good faith, but the marriage was ended through divorce or annulment
• Entered into a marriage in good faith, but either you or your child were battered or subjected to extreme hardship by your U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident spouse
• Would be subject to extreme hardship on the termination of your conditional resident status"

Oddly enough, it appears that even if you divorce before the 2 year period you can still be allowed to become permanent.

FYI guys, just finally got word that my green card was "going into production" the other day after it was supposed to take 3 months (6 months max) from my application date in Feb 2008. I had to get the local Congressman's office involved since the USCIS customer service # was hanging up on me, saying they could only "tell me what's on their screen," and the local office was giving me the run-around.

It's a fucking nightmare. Thank God I married someone I love. If anyone's considering it, you better get at least $50k and have all your expenses etc paid for during that time (unless you want to go to prison, you should be living together).

Oh, and as far as the "check ups" and all that, we had to go to 2 interviews, one for the work permit (after 2-3 months) and one for the conditional permanent residency (after 1 yr). They could've interviewed us again for lifting the conditional status (at 2 yrs, 9 mo) and give me the green card, but I guess I checked out, being that I can speak English and I hadn't spent more than 1 week out of the country the whole time I was here. They don't come to your house or anything. But we got married in Feb 2005 and it's taken this long. If everything had gone as planned, I'd have been a citizen last Feb. I'll be applying the day I get my card, that's for sure.

So I guess I'm saying don't do it, since 4-5 years is a long time to lock yourself into with someone, unless you're sure you're never you'll never find someone you actually want to marry in the next 5 years.

I have a friend that falls in love with every girl he dates, so it wouldn't even be a lie. ALthough she'd have to be able to put out and possibly be freaky/kinky.

In practice, though, it's pretty rare for them to still approve you. There was some story on the news (forget which network) a while back which showed spouses of US soldiers who were killed in Iraq/Afghanistan who were facing deportation. Apparently, people were trying to intercede on their behalf, but they were still facing problems if they didn't at least return to their "home country" in the meantime, since they were technically overstaying.

The sad thing is, they make it way harder on those of us who choose to do it legally than they do on the illegals or those that they grant "amnesty" to. They talk about "immigration reform" and giving all these people a free pass (make them pay a fine etc), but I already paid $2k+ in fees and when I first came down here did everything legally and didn't work under the table, didn't get any financial aid, and paid out-of-state tuition. If only I had just disobeyed the law, then I wouldn't be facing craptons of student loan debt. There's a really easy way to fix the whole problem, but it's too easy for the government and would step on the toes of too many fat cat corporations and special interest groups.
