Most of the well-off people that call into radio shows like Dave Ramsey's or are mentioned in money books usually work during the day and deliver pizza at night.

Delivering pizza is all in where you do it. I had a friend who lived way out on Poole Rd. who delivered pizza in North Raleigh. His theory on it was that he was going to be driving all night anyway so he might as well drive 30 minutes to work and then make $15-$20 an hour rather than drive 5 minutes to work and then make $10 an hour while risking robberies and ass beatings. He always did pretty well. Don't you live near Briar Creek?

Of course, as long as you know what you're looking at. It's something you get better at the more you do it and you're sure to make a few mistakes along the way, but there is definitely money to be made.

Don't think eBay only though...Consider items which you can sell on Craigslist as well. Some items (furniture for example) are worth much more locally than on eBay due to the exorbitant shipping costs that the buyer would have to pay. Plus you have to consider the eBay/Paypal fees as well as your time spent packaging and shipping. Sometimes it's worth it to take less via Craigslist and just get the product out the door.

It takes a bit of effort and skill. You have to have an eye for shit that will sell for the big bux. And only buy stuff that still works good.

Broken stereo shit can eat into your margin or obliterate it entirely. Was what I was gonna do, as I'm kind of a vintage stereo freak. I love '70s Marantz stuff.

It's rarely worth the effort unless you happen to score the mother lode. Most folks yardsale a bunch of tremendously useless shit.

You can find good stuff from time-to-time. I don't particularly like any of the Goodwill Stores though. Look at the charity run thrift stores instead. There is a lot more competition now than a couple of years ago though. Influx of illegals and a piss poor economy will do that. You really have to just go because you enjoy looking around and, if you find something worth selling, consider it good fortune.

When I first moved out to the house I am in now, I found an old rusted out Coke-a-cola fridge back in the woods. It was one of those long chest type fridges with 2 sliding glass doors on the top.
