The DMV's website isn't of much help, so I thought I'd turn to TWW: Does changing your drivers license address automatically change the address on your registration & title, or do you have to do that separately?

Having a driver license has nothing to do with owning a car. So yes, they are separate but can be done at the same time at the DMV. Make sure you take the title with you; if you're making payments and your lienholder has the title, you'll need the address of the lienholder so the DMV can contact them and get the addy changed.

Note: If you're just moving around in NC, it's not really worth it to get the title changed. With your registration, I think there's a number on the card that you can call to get the addy changed.
