I miss Cameron Village.

I wonder if Africa has a Harris Teeter in their Cameroon Village. /Chicks love puns, especially geographic puns.

I would say this only happens about 1/4 of the time, which isnt that bad. Food lions have always been more strict than any other grocery store.

technically every grocery store is required to do this. i was told to when i started working for a lowes foods in high school back in 2003. i didn't always do it, but you're supposed to.

I think its because the parking lot is too small. But I would appreciate if they did have cart returns. I always put the cart away, so I have to walk inside to return it.

they lost their license to sell beer and wine when i was in school because of selling to minors....that was 1997

so just be thankful you can actually get beer there now....pull out your ID....and quit your bitching

the problem is the law says you have to be 21 to buy alcohol, not that you have to be 21 to be in line at a grocery store when someone else buys alcohol

and it never happened to me until this school year. i used to go in there with my gf when she was buying alcohol when i was 20 and we never had a problem. anecdotal evidence

HT is usually overpriced, but at the same time they tend to cycle through having various great deals on shit that I actually buy (example: 4 or 5 for $10.00, on items that are usually $4.50 by themselves)

They have employed people there who have shifts for specifically this thing. Just as when they had the cart returns there they had someone whose job it was to go out and get them.

its the same thing now, and if you try and return one and this person sees you they will tell you to leave it in the parking lot and they'll do it. after all, it is the guy's job. you might as well start cleaning their toilets and restocking their shelves too if you disagree.

^Unless the "cart nazi" you are referring to actively tells me to leave the cart, I'm going to return it. Know why? Because, even though they do send runners out to the lot frequently to corral carts, they're still dangerous if you leave them sitting any old place. Carts in a parking lot roll...I don't want that shit hitting my car, or mine hitting someone else's car, if someone leaves it on a slope. And it looks tacky when people run them up onto the little islands of landscaped area, which are small anyway.

Why, just out of curiosity? It's quite a bit smaller and has less selection, unless your problem with the CV store is that it's too big. Personally the Teeter in CV is probably the best I've ever been to--selection is pretty unbeatable, love the dual U-scans/short waits, and the scenery is admittedly quite nice. Yes, Teeter in general is overpriced, but I just shop the hell out of the VIC specials and will put up with the other prices since the difference in store experience, selection, convenience, cleanliness, and service make the difference to me. Usually in my house, when I shop for food, I go to HT, and the girlfriend goes to Kroger--the prices there are admittedly cheaper but I value the service/experience more.

The rules are different if it's a parent. I guess if they were being ultra-suspicious they might card both of you just to establish the relationship or something, but they won't refuse to sell to a parent due the presence of an underage son or daughter. That's just ludicrous.

HT should hire someone to make sure the parking lot is clear of carts. it is NOT my responsibility to do THEIR job for them, especially after paying their inflated prices.

That happened with my mom once when I was in high school but she got the manager involved and that solved the issue right there. The funny part was she was buying it for my friends and me

I actually prefer the HT off Tryon (in Cary, technically... but fuck Cary), but that's mostly because I live about an equal distance from both and don't need to go anywhere near Hillsborough to get there.

Passed each other three times with three smiles, the last was followed with a knowing laugh by us both. You – handsome straight-up lookin fella with a sweet shy smile and excellent scruff, 30s/6ft-ish, casually dressed. Me – green shirt, jeans, glasses and book bag. Your buddy (in line) encouraged you to “just do it” – you should’ve/I should’ve, thought you (or I) would still and looked for you after checking out… "

that almost works except that I'm only 23 and I was there by myself. there was a really cute girl in front of me at the U-Scan in glasses but she wasn't wearing jeans. she was one of those assholes who goes to the U-Scan with over $100 in groceries
