Anyone have any experience buying dry ice in this city / know where it's cheap? I swear I've seen it in grocery stores before, but I can't for the life of me remember where that was.

Almost all grocery stores will sell it to you. Food Lion used to just give us the stuff if you're nice to the manager.But have your junk straight. Bring gloves and your cooler and look like you're not just screwing off.
