Manual is the only way to go. It makes me sick when I see people buy automatic sports cars. Driving should be fun.

And parents should make sure their kids know how to drive stick. It comes in handy.

Stuff like that is why I'm so glad my parents are adamant about driving sticks. I have never found myself in a situation where I couldn't drive a car, but plenty of my friends couldn't drive mine

Agreed, everyone should learn to drive on a beat up piece of shit manual car or truck.

I almost went apoplectic with rage when a neighbor of mine got an automatic 911, and not the paddle shift kind either. Manuals are just so much more fun, but I will say that automatics are nice when you have to deal with stop and go traffic on your morning/afternoon commute.

I can't even wrap my brain around not being able to drive a manual transmission. I mean, if you're 16 or 17, that's one thing, but I can't even understand making it to 20-something years old without becoming at least function proficient at it somewhere along the line.


of course, I learned to drive a truck with a 3-speed on the column (and no power brakes or power steering) when I was like 13, maybe 14...so it's been 2nd nature to me for a long, long time.
